Hell yea I love that body style beemer...w/ gm power hell yea.....
Somehow, when I read he was taking his engine out, I kinda figured it'd be an LSx swap. And I was right! German engineering + American engine = pure sex!

I slightly agree. When you take that thing off the jack stands it's going to drop like a lead balloon.
The stock suspension is not rated to hold up that monster. But good work.

Generation III
The Vortec 5300, or LM7/LM4/L59/L33, is a V8 truck engine. It is a stroked (by 9 mm) version of the Vortec 4800 and replaced the 5700 L31. L59 denoted a flexible fuel version, while the LM7 was the standard version of the engine.
Power output is 285-295 hp (213-220 kW) and torque is 325-335 ft·lb (441-447 N·m). Displacement is 5.3 L (5328 cc) from 96.01 mm bore and 92.00 mm stroke. Vortec 5300s are built in St. Catharines, Ontario, Romulus, Michigan, and Silao, Mexico.
That guy needs to get his engines straight. LS1 = 5.7L, not 5.3L. I would like it better if it was actually a LS1, not a Vortec. LS1s have aluminium blocks and heads, but i dunno about the Vortec engines.
"Project 69'"
1969 Chevrolet C/10, 1/2 ton, 2wd
-Boosted LS1?
-Richmond ROD 6-speed(will get sometime)
-Posi 12-bolt(built w/eaton posi unit and richmond 3.73 gears)
-Disc brake and 5 lug swap
+little extras
5.3s can be had either way...hes just doing it for fun and an LS1/2/3/6/7 isn't out of the future of the car, it was laying around so why not lol
The Vortec and LS motors share some parts

and I have thought about doing this. 2900 lb. coupe with lots of power, mmmmmm.
