well I am about to pick up my new truck. 99-02 body style. 5.3vortech 4 speed auto. z71 reg cab with 6in procomp lift.
I want to put in the T-56. Is this possible? Im not worried about the tranny but more of the computer...what one would I use? Its 4 wheeldrive also. I just want a 5 or 6 speed tranny is all. Any ideas or info?

it will involve alot of custom fabrication as those trucks never came with a manual.

thats what i was worried about...thanks borsty

if u can fab up stuff yourself and weld and crap u could do it. its not impossible, just not effective.
your better off puttin a badass convertor in it and a shift kit and calling it a day.
first gear in those trucks is badass.

Nope - the manual transmission was standard on all the regular cab Silverado models. Most 1500's are optioned with the auto though, so finding one with a manual transmission is rare.
However, it is a much more common option on the HD models (2001+) which came standard with the 6.0L V8, and could also be had with the 8.1L Big Block and Duramax Diesel - all came standard with the ZF 6-speed manual.
If you can find a manual transmission out of a Silverado, it should bolt right up without too much modification - and try to find a 6-speed if you can
