Trunk Removal
Wednesday, February 16, 2005 1:22 AM
I have a 97 2 door cav and im having a little bit of trouble. Im trying to take the trunk lid and hinges off, to fit a box in there (for more space, and for security purposes) Ive already unbloted the 6 bolts, and unhooked the little wire connected the the black plastic fuse holder thing on the drivers side and pulled the hinges through the deck into the trunk (actually, when i did this i messed up my thumb, something happened...i dunno, but it hurt and almost broke my finger, i think the hinge and the trunk supports cought my hand,, oh well) and i was just wondering what else was going to be involved before going any further? How easy is it to remove? Where are the wires i need to remove? Can i take the hinges off the trunk lid once i get it out? It would be alot easier that way. Any help is greatful!

The box does not clear the hinges. I made it a hair to big, but in the end, with measuring, I found it to work out better, if i can get the hinges off, and if I can, The box will not be able to be removed (which makes me happy for security reasons) and then put the hinges back on. I just gotta wait for some nice weather for this to take place.

well since you dont even know how to take them off, my suggestion is to trace where the hinges are before you unbolt them because if you dont, you could have some fitment issues when you try to reinstall it
