I'm painting my calipers and drums this weekend but I'm having trouble deciding on colors...these 18's show EVERYTHING so I need to paint ASAP. My wife's uncle owns an auto paint supply store, so custom color is no problem.
Should I go with Arrival Blue Calipers or Silver?
And should I paint the rear drums to match or stick with Black to hide 'em?
Any other colors? Definitely don't want Red or anything...
Thanks for your input!
Steve
I would say color match and black the drums.
Color match both it looks great. Thats what I got.
good luck

OK, so you're saying Arrival Blue calipers and black drums?
Should I use a primer on anything?
I'll post pics when its done - appreciate the ideas.
paint them all black. i dont see why you would want to draw attention to stock brakes
Yeah, that's another option...
i just dont like it when the calipers and drums are the same as the body color, its just too much going on.
black man...
you want your rims to stand out, not your @!#$ty stock brakes.
i vote to color match the calipers with the body color, and do the drums black
OK, I have decided to take a combination of everyone's advice and go Arrival Blue calipers and Black Drums. I agree with BaggedCav that maybe blue drums IS too busy.
I plan to change the brakes all the way around the car this fall anyway, so I can have a little fun with my stock ones for now! hehe
Thanks,
Steve
Sorry if I wasn't clear Blue Cav. Paint both calipers and drums to match your car.
You dont realy need to prime them just make sure there good and clean. Start by spraying down the caliper and drums with brake kleen let them air dry. This will get rid of any oil or crap that may interfear with the paint sticking to the parts. Now just spray
away

dont worry about overspray as it wont hurt anything at all in the rear. And whatver gets on the rotors will go away the first time you hit your brakes. Along with the calipers you may want to paint the portion of the rotor where the studs are. This looks
good just ask anyone how mine and slaminsunfires brakes look so far everyone likes them. Again dont worry about overspray as it will come off the first time you brake.
Do them both front and rear it realy sets the wheels off nicely. Especialy on a Blue car with silver trim, Its gonna look great. And no you don't need any special paint either
just get whatever matches your car the best and it will hold up just fine. So far there are about a dozen guys that have followed this advice and no problems out of any of them.
Good Luck and dont forget to post some pics.

Thanks Jackalope - we need to hang out sometime. I am near DC and only 2 years younger than you (we are among the old men of this forum!) I turn 33 in Oct.
Maybe you can come over and paint my brakes for me in exchange for some kind of carbon fiberage when I get some more...
Steve
silver drums, same color calipers.

pink would be funny
I say silver calipers and black drums.
First thing you need to do is upgrade your brakes since you have bigger wheels on them. That would be the smart thing to do.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh I will. I've just spent my entire summer budget for this thing. Fall should bring me upgraded disk brakes all the way around and a bunch of suspension upgrades. I'm trying to set it up so the car will be ready for mass performance work next summer. I'll have to save all winter and spring to have a shot at that supercharger...
