ok, I am in the middle of building my own front bumper. I was wonderin what the average lenght of an aftermarket front bumper, bomex, drift, evo, etc... is over the stock one? I wanna eventually drop it on coilovers too, so it can't be too low.
I was thinkin about 6 inches lower than stock but IDK.

Six inches would be too much if you plan on dropping the car on coilovers. I would suggest 3 to 4 inches max. Thats about what the lowest bumper available is, which I believe is the drift kit bumper.
6 inches good greif !!! Where do you live?? in the land of no bumps?? Man that will kill your under body. Ask anyone with a airride setup who drops it while driveing cause your gonna get the same effect. As for the bumper lasting.... just dont hit anything and it will be fine for years.

well my stock 95-99 z24 bumper on stock suspension sits 9 inches off the ground.
so if you add six inches to the bottom of that bumper, you're only 3 inches off the ground WITH stock suspension.

every kit is different and some are lower than others. i would say do 3 inches max
The best way to figure it out will to have the car lowered, from there you would see how much room you have to build the bumper... but that's the best situation, if you get the bumper first it's possible, you just have to consider the space that will remain once it's lowered...
yeah, I thought six inches was a bit excessive especially if I wanna drop it. Funds are low right now, so I don't have the cash to actually drop it yet. thats why I am askin my Qs. thanks guys. I think its gonna be a 4 inch lower bumper. thanks again

all i know is dont go with a 6 inch drop with an after market kit, you will hit all the time. I have the drift and when i had my coilover setup i was 2 1/2 inches off the ground, let me tell you not FUN to drive at all. Well Good Luck
