Neon or LED underglow...preferences?
i prefer neons (imo, they are brighter), but LED's can do more (blink, do patterns, change color, etc). LED underbodies cost more though.
cannon fodder, i like how you've replied to both of my posts in the last 15 minutes, what about durability? I've heard both are more durable than eachother???? Yeah. Any personal experience?
Well i've seen and experienced both, most led's kits i've installed have later had problems with bulbs buring out or looking dim, neons still seem to be the best bet if you want a solid bright glow, led's are good if you want all the flashing , color changing fun stuff. Just my opinion
you have to be careful with both... neon bulbs shatter easily (i had my rear tube break not too long after i installed them). LEDs can be damaged as well, so you still have to be careful. either way, be careful with them and you'll be fine.
Neon is deffinently the way to go if you do any underglow for the fact that accent tubes are brighter than the LEDs by far.
2003 Silver Cavalier 2.2L Ecotec!!!!
Would it look cheesy to put some underglow on my 2003 Cavalier without a body kit on it?
I wouldn't think so. I have StreetGlow Blue Line series on my generally stock looking 05 Cavalier.
I perfer Neon, they're a lot brighter in my opinion.
all are illegal for street use, just letting you know

depends on your state, you can have underglow on the street in indiana as long as it's not blue/green or depending, on how they read the law, red.

well they're illeagal in VA, where I live, and I got a ticket for incare as well. that was a long time ago before I had my 'fire
"Neo Blue". I don't see whats so "neo" about it, but its a great blue, lol
Their supposedly illegal here in Illinois too, but I see them everywhere. This week alone on the street I've seen a red Camaro with red underglows, a silver Focus with blue, and a Civic with blue. Then i have mine. I haven't run into any problems either, but keep getting told I will. So its all up to if the cop wants to be an @!#$.
True, neons are sometimes brighter. But I acutally prefer my LED's. Neon tubes shatter way too easily in the cold weather, LED's are more durable IMO. I live on a stone road, and from the stones there's a crack in the rear lightbar, but they still work excellently. And I believe that my LED's are plenty bright. They can be seen really well during the night time. In fact, they damn near light up the other side of the road.
Besides, the ability to make your underbodies change colors while flashing enough to make a japanese cartoon look like grandma's late night tv show is just friggin sweet.
LED's are better.
They are brighter, Have a longer life period,
Draw less amp's, are more durable,
and more options for the look.
streetglow gold series are the best.

Neon.
As far as legality, each state differs completely. Some states you can't have any underglow while in motion, others just non-emergency colors. Most states do have one thing in common though, the tubes cannot be visible. Check with your local authority. Remember, a lot of state laws are vague and the final decision is to the officers discretion.

thanks man, yeah I guess they're not too shabby. I just wish they weren't so concentrated, and had a bigger glow area.. All in all I am really happy with the kit so far though. It's the PlasmaGlow 7 color kit from A+ Performance.
Here is a pic:
See, you can see an example in that pic. The light is concentrated in one general spot, it doesn't make the whole underbody glow which is the point. Those are LED, right? The lights around the headlights are badass though.
I think I like the other spelling better

Luvin the lights in the headlights.
nice angel eyes, how do you do that?
also, I believe that neons *LOOK* better, but LED's are more durable, have more color/blinking options, and last longer..
as said earlier, the streetglow gold's look best imo also

Thanks

Yeah the kit is LED, so are the angel eyes.
IZN TRBLdid the angel eyes for me. I actually have 4 angel eyes, not just the 2 shown, I should have the other 2 hooked up this spring. It looks really sic when all 4 are glowing..
My only complaint (its not really a complaint either) is that the LED's are very concentrated. I've thought about doubling up the tubes though to try to make them even brighter and even more spread out but i'm not sure how it would look. I bought the high capacity wireless upgrade, but never got around to buying a second underglow kit for it.. maybe one of these days
I saw some neon kits this summer at a local cruise night. I'm not sure what brand they were, but they didn't seem nearly as bright as my LED kit, but the glow was definately more spread out. . I guess it depends on what you want, a nice spread or durability and brightness. Either way underglow just looks fricken sweet imo.
