I have no buddies on here (yet), I'm not really adept at working with my hands when it comes to cars and I'm a afraid that if I attempt this (without out the right supervision there beside me) I would screw it up, so when/if I start to mod my car...I will have it done by a professional.

I greatly respect those who can do it themselves however, i'm just not that talented.

I do all my own work. I was taught how to do body work and fiberglassing when i was 13 by a local hot-rod builder and then after that i kinda took over doing my own work on my body and then the engine and interior. I love it.

ive done everything myself to my car except paint. doing it yourself really helps you learn how to do things so much better. if i didnt do things myself, i would have no idea how to glass or do all my suspension work

I did all the exterior work on my car. the only thing i did not do was spray the paint on, i dont think im ready for that yet. engine work, i dont mess with that at all.

I'm with smoth cav on this. There are somethings I've done (CAI), but everything else I have had a shop do because I either a) don't have the tools, b) can't find the time, or c) don't want to have to replace something because I messed up...learning can be expensive.

I do everything myself. From rebuilding engines to spraying on the paint.

i worked on my truck with my dad... with body work, sanding, grinding, cutting, welding. then the engine blew so i learned how the engine really worked and i did 2 rebuilds on it. just basic stuff you can learn that can be carried over to fuel injection. i rebuilt a 4.3L throttle body injection. so i learned about o2 sensors and fuel injectors and various other problems/solutions. my clutch and transmission blown on my cavalier a month after i bought it so i learned how to install the transmission by myself and how to install a new clutch and all the procedures.
its very rewarding to learn to do it yourself and you could end of saving thousands of dollars. i like saving money. i plan on doing all the custom work on my own. exception for odb scanning and professional tuning like a dyno.(unless you have all the stuff yourself which is very unlikly.)

I do all my own work for a couple reasons. First is I can't afford to pay someone else to do it. Second the few times I have when it would come back I could have done a better job myself. Third I just don't trust anyone with my car. Lastly I enjoy working on my car

I also do it all myself and with friends and family of course it never hurts to have helpers.

i did everything on my last car and im taking it even further with this one. im in the process of building a turbo kit.

^^^^ agreed paint is one of my favorite but also my least fav because it takes alot of hard work and practice to get good and right now im ok and i want to be great.

I do my own body work, I just learned how to paint (with a paint gun), and I know enough about engines to get me by, but I'm still learning.

everything so far has been soloed or has been done with some teamwork. Some things are easier with two people.
