well ever since i got the car it leaks.. which doesnt bother me much since im in southern cali but also when i go down the road it makes a noise and becomes very annoying so i have to open it a little to make it be quiet. But i will be screwed if in fact it does rain so i was wondering what i need to replace? how hard is it and where do i find the parts for cheap? Ive heard theres a drain for sunroofs? where is it located?
Well i have a sunroof, and if it was installed properly the first time it shouldnt leak or howl. I suggest you check the outer seal, the tracks, and the inner seal before you spend a grand on replacement. There are also 2 hoses, atleast on mine towards the end of the tracts that goes across the roof and down the back of the car. If they are clogged, it will leak. And if your seals are shot or not installed right its gonna leak and howl.
So take a pic and we will see what you got.
im pretty sure it was installed right its stock..lol i was directing the questions more to people with a Z24 with stock sunroof and what parts i need ect chances are im not the only one with a stock sunroof with the problems.
heres some pix in the one is does look like the rubber is missing or cut up ect.. where would i just get this piece? it seems like its glued on or something i wouldnt even know how to replace it?
it opens and closes pretty smoothly ect.. it has 167k miles tho so i should probably greese it are the tracks easy to get to/ grease?
My sunroof is stock, Well kinda. The previous owner had it installed at the dealership for $2000. Stupid lady.
The gasket around is found usually either at the dealer, Wasabo, or the junkyard. However you can use stick on weather sealer to do the same thing.
Huh that look different from my stock sunroof. Mine has the gasket around the sunroof itself and not around the car opening.

mine looks different as well. is yours factory installed or dealer installed? there is a difference. Theres no compairison to a factory installed one, they are flush mounted with the roof, and dont pop out at all when they're clsoed. It loosk liek yours comes up a little bit, and because there is no paint inside the hole there I'm assuming its factory installed. Id find out which company it was contracted out to from the dealer and bring it to them, see what they say about it

is ANYTHING on you car that deos work?? no trying to be a dick or anything but like multiple times I week I see a thread you start about thow to fix something else on your car... honest opinion.... stop putine time and money into it, just drive it. Or start saving up for something new. Just from clicking threads its seems like you have the most unreliable, biggest money pit on the .org
again don't go getting all pissing I'm not ripping on you or your car, I'm just saying it sounds liek you should look into other options
well i am sure everyone is gonna laugh at me for even asking. but i have been sort of debating on having a sun roof installed in my car. the place that was gonna do it was gonna ask 700 to do it, with a life time warrenty on the install and leaks, and like 3 year part warrenty. well i am pretty sure i am gonna put the 700 somewere else, just wanted to hear everyones opinion on how well the after market sunroofs hold up. just so i have somthing to back my reasoning up..... so i can see both sides. thanks

thats because half the people have the same problems im talking bout my other cav anyway i bought in for 850.00. Most people would just drive a car i like everything on my cars to be as perfect as possible and in good working order i do routine maintence before it should be done i think i keep them up very good. As for the sunroof i just cut all the excess crap off the old moulding ect. and got some weather stripping from pepboys and layed it down seems to be working pretty good
no my car has never been repainted the one with the sunroof anyway. Its a stock sunroof with stock paint.

Im glad my advice helped.
Need any more red pens? WTF.
haha there for work i grab like a handfull everyday i use aloottt everyday.. i dont even know if my @!#$ is stock or not do cavaliers with sunroofs still have a dome light? or just map lights on the mirror?
My old Z had both map/dome lights, along with my 3 other friends whom have moonroofs.
From the looks of it, that is aftermarket, reason being my 1996 and my buddie's 2003 both had identical sunroofs, and both have a seal around the actual glass itself.
I'm
really thinking yours is aftermarket.

I have a factory sunroof in my car, and the dome light was relocated towards the rear.
Yeah Brandon, that is not factory, upon looking at the frame a little more it is quite different.
thats weird.. where is the switch for stock sunroofs? everything looks so stock on my car. to the switch to where the dome light is ect..
i had an after market roof in my 99 sedan. some dumb chick put it in on lease. it held up pretty good. no problems.
can you take a pic of the switch thats usually the give away weather its stock or not. and does yours have a sunshade in it? usually the aftermarket ones dont.
and i was only asking if it was a repaint because usually they pull the roof glass and seals to paint the roof.

Just be glad we got new cavaliers. Brandon is just trying to save the Cavalier's
life and trying not to make it overcome the actual meaning of a BEATER. That's
why we have this site. We work as a team and get shizit done together the right
way. Good luck man.
lol i got this car so i can keep my fixed up one nice n the miles off it since i drive like 150 miles a day the switch is right between the visors. It does have a sunshade but it clicks in it doesnt slide like i can click it on and off
