D.O.T. Approved Green Headlights???
Saturday, December 17, 2005 6:48 AM
Ok, if this isnt in the right forum, go ahead and move it. But my headlights went out last night, so I was looking around for some new ones. It seems like the newest things is to get the JDM yellow headlights, which isn't really my cup of tea. So i ahve a few questions....... Euro DeZigns sells a 6000K Green D.O.T. approved bulb. Is this true??? I know "blue" and red are kind of a no-no with cops, and that yellow is ok, and purple is iffy, but does anyone know about green? I have bought Euro DeZigns before, and I like them because they have a lifetime warranty and they don't pop after 3 months like other aftermarket ones I have got. Comments, sugggestions??? Also, the Luminics True Blue are 6000K so that must be pretty darn blue, could there be posible problems with cops with that.
Heres the auction I found just so you can see what I'm talkign about.Ebay Green Bulbs

Well the only problem that jumps to mind is that in some areas green lights are used on emergency vehicles used by vollenteers. If they dont have them where you live , they don't have them here I'm just saying... ) but you decide to go on a trip, you maaay
run into problems with the local law.

I find it hard to believe that a color light that emergency personel use could ever get a
D.O.T. number.

And I was the first one in this area to get the yellows, they are great in all kinds of bad weather, just like fog lights.

Ask them for a DOT certification Number. And then just check with the DOT. If they cant produce a number, they are lying.

Oh, and just because it is DOT approved, doesnt make it legal everywhere, your gonna have to check with your local Po po.

I had the blue ones that they made and they were crap. They barely put any light on the ground. When it rains your probably not going to see crap with them. I know i didn't when I had the blue ones.
The Luminics ones were a little bit better but I perfer silverstars but there not blue, more of a white color.

I had EuroDesignz blue and green bulbs. The blue ones had a strong blue light to them, but it did nothing to the ground. When it rained, it was dogs*it.

The green ones I had in my Cavy. The greenish tint looks really cool but again, does nothing when its raining or snowing out. Also, the light doesn't properly snug into the socket. ALSO, I smelled plastic burning the one day and I traced it back to the wiring harness and found out that the light was burning the plastic around the connector. Needless to say, I got rid of them as fast as possible. Went out, bought Silverstars, great output, fits snug, haven't had a problem since.

Completely wrong. The kelvin rating is a the color temp, has nothing to do with wattage. Read up on hid's before you post stuff like that.

Nope no problems with the yellow ones and I've been running them for about a year now. Fog lights are yellow and they are legal so I don't understand why they would be screwing with you over them. Maybe its a PA. thing ??
