I have the keyless entry ect.. but I'm looking to add a fail safe so to speak if the solinoid or whatever dies (shaved trunk = no lock) did any 3rd gens came with a factory manula cable release? I'd liek to swap one one if if they made it.
it was an option so yes they made them, i dont have one though

wish i did
ryan you can find them at the junkyard all the time. i used to have on on my old car it mounts on the floor next to the driver seat from the factory
^^^ what he said.
Today I pulled one out of a sunfire and put it on one that didn't have the lever thing.
Granted, the car that got it didn't have a keyless trunk opener but it was pretty easy.

Stuff for Sell:
my grand am has a button on the door
My 96 has the lever on the side of the seat. But i test drove a 02 LS sport that had a button.. Either way its good to have espwith shaved trunks.. its how i plan to open mine until i get my car alarm..
Ryan, shouldnt you already have one? Did they not make the LS sports with the trunk release? I have one on my 05, like they said, its to the left of the steering wheel on the lower part of the dash...
Every car after 02 (I think) has the manual "Amber" release you could hook a solenoid to to add remote "pop".
My Car Domain
yeah my 96 had the manual trunk release between the seat and door
I dont have either a button nor the handle, but ive seen 3 J's in the last week with them, even a 96 Z24 today with it, how hard would it be to rig something like that up if you have the remote release, any step by step for the dummies?
yea i would be intrested in a step by step
my 2000 z24 dosent have one
he has a power one........ he's looking to add a MANUAL back-up..... in case the battery goes dead, or the siliniod takes a crap.....

Can't you just fold down the back seats to get to the trunk?

im with jesse, you should have one if you have an LS Sport. if not, you got ripped off. I have one on my 02 LS Sport.

You cannot fold down the rear seats from inside the car on an 03 and newer cavs, like you can on your 98. You have to pop the latch from the inside of the trunk in order to flip the seats down.

this is still going sweet

I knew I posted thign but forgot where hahahah
thanks for the input, I'll start making rounds to the junk yards once it gets nice out
cant you just atatch a wire to the "i'm free!!" trunk entrapment release
I could but considering how many car shows I do I don't want things looking 1/ assed rigged up, I'd rather spend alittle extra and have it look nice and complete
