SO im pulling my back glass for some custom work and I was wondering if anyone knew the CORRECT way to do this without busting the glass? Its not going back in(well not in an OEM fashon anyway

) But Im guessing cut the sealant with piano wire all the way around then use a paint scraper to peel it up and off the car?
also how do I get the old sealer off the glass without damaging it?
-thanks!
the piano wire would work its pretty hard to remove the rear glass without breaking it, i would cover the inside of the glass with tape. that way if you do break it you wont be finding glass for the next 10 years.
the old sealant should scrap off. a heat guy might be helpful to remove both the rear glass and the old sealant.
good luck.

there is a tool that you use. it is like a t handle with a curved blade on the end. I think it is actualy called a widow/glass removal tool.

make sure if u have defrosters to disconnect those.. had a guy in the shop forget about that and after he got it cut he was outside the car and went to lift it out and it jerked the glass and it slipped out of his hands.. had diamonds everywhere lmao. Also the tape on the back window is another good point.. I'll see if i can get a pic of the tool to cut the old sealant.. im in needing to get my whole rear window resealed also.. leaking and i can push out on it and it lifts up..
everytime i've removed auto glass, i've used piano wire......works great best w/ 2 people just really take ur time. as stated above go get the execess glue of the window heat gun and a razor blade work great. Taping up the window to prevent sractching is a great idea as well. hope i helped at least a little. good luck man ur car rocks
So I havent done it yet, But if(and probably when) im unsuccessfull in pulling the glass without breaking it is there anyone that still sells lexan replacement rear glass?
thanks
