that would be a targa top. its been tired but its very hard. the whole car has to be reinforced because your cutting the roof out which give the car its strength. its possible but at what a price. to me, not worth it. ratindahat has tried it on his sunfire and was only able to complete t-tops.

ps. drop top is the same as a vert. targa top is what the supra in fnf had and i believe del sols have them

You're thinking of a Targa Top, not a T-Top...

For the actual work, I would suggest buying a convertible cavalier and then welding on top of it the back end of a coupe. A coupe cannot function correctly without it's top (think of a shoe box; you take the top off, you can twist it all around, but you put the lid on and you can't turn it). A convertible on the other hand is designed and reinforced to be able to (which is why they weigh more).

As for shops, my only advice is to look around your area and look for custom shops, and I doubt you'll be able to find a dealer willing to under take the project...

Like they said, you'd need to do alot of structural support before you can cut the roof. Then you'd also have to deal with sealing problems and money costs. Take a convertible and either weld a new top on it or make one that you can remove so you can put the top up from time to time.
