I live in Quebec, where winter is a bitch and where they put a s!load of salt and sand on the roads 6months a year. I'll have to have the whole front end repainted, hood, bumper, and fenders. Now, I was thinking about only having the bumper and fenders repainted, and buying a CF hood, to put the stocker back on for winter months.
Is it really easy to swap hoods like that? Is there a stock-looking CF hood out there? How much am I looking at, the very cheapest ( I don't mind online ).
Are they very fragile? How bout durability? Can you hear the engine more with one?
Thanks!
BTW, any pics of a black 03 cav with one?
its 6 bolts to swap the hood and the striker or the latch... very easy just have a second person help. They make OEM style cf hoods, factory hood but made of carbon fiber, for a good quality hood your looking at around $500 or so. They aren't really that fragile they are are very light so they seem flimsy but mine has gone thought hail with no damage. Just be careful having the hood poped outdoors, it doesn't take much wind to pick it up and fold it over onto your windshield. Then engine sounds the same, I'm sure theres some difference but nothign noticable unless your trying to hear a difference... kinda liek how the butt dyno is never right cause your expecting a gain so you swear you feel a gain.
Thanks darkstars! Are there really big differences in quality between brands? Are those VIS CF hoods on ebay alright?
Cheers,
G
