FORGET THE CLAY BAR !!!

Ok I have to post this in responce to all this clay bar talk I've seen going on around here as of late. Have any of you heard of a product called Meguires BODY SCRUB ? Well
apparently not since your all fully convinced the clay bar is the end all be all of paint cleaning products.

Meguires BODY SCRUB is a non-abrasive paint cleaner that gets deep down in the pores of the paint and cleans all contaninents out. Think of the paint on your car just like the skin on your arm its not 100% smooth as glass it has dips and vallies and pores yes pores just like your arm does. Now when you just wash the car your only removing the dirt thats on the surface and the dirt in the pores is left behind. Meguires BODY SCRUB gets into those pores and cleans them out as well as the surface.

Now don't get me wrong I have tried the clay bar and found it to be extremly slow going
and a pain in the ass to use in general. Where as the BODY SCRUB is applied and treated just like you would a liquid polish. Its that easy.

TRUE STORY::::: When I worked detailing cars for a while a customer came in driveing a black IROC Camaro with something all over his hood. It turned out it was a vanilla milk shake dumped there by a jellious husband who had found out the guy was seeing his wife. We washed it and nothing, Oh forgot to mention the customer was in the National Gaurd and this damage was done while he was away for his 2 weeks in the summer so the stuff had 2 weeks to bake in the summer sun. Anyway we tried the clay bar and nothing the guy was paniced thinking he would have to re-paint the hood. I broke out a bottle of Meguires BODY SCRUB dumped some on the hood and went at it with a terry cloth towel. After a few minutes of buffing it was actualy coming off !! This stuff was removeing what nothing else could !! So we broke out the buffers and went at his hood. 2 hours later with the help of I can't remember how many buffer bonetts and some polish and some wax his hood looked like new. After this we threw away they clay bars and stocked up on the BODY SCRUB.

DISCLAIMER:::: I am not sponcered by nor paid by Meguires for my recomendation of their products. My recomedations come from years of experence and trial and error and trying almost every product on the market. I would strongly recomend you give the BODY SCRUB a shot as I can gaurentee the results will floor you !!

Some of the Pep Boys has it around here. Advance does not carry it. A local place called Salvo auto parts stocks it and always has it.

I'm telling ya guys even if you have to order it straight from Meguires its soooo worth it !!! It does the exact same thing as the clay bars do but with a fraction of the the effort.

My only issue is that I couldn't find it on the shelves, nor did I see it when I glanced through (and searched "body scrub") on Meguiars e-Store.

In the past 3 days, I've been to 3 different Advanced Auto Parts, Napa, Pep Boys, Walmart, and Target. Only Napa and Pep Boys even carried their professional line.

In my case, I wanted/needed something by tomorrow. I'll keep my eyes out, but I doubt I'll be going hunting for it.

But if you want to find it on Meguiars site for me, I may order some next time I go to thoroughly detail the car.

Well I just called Meguires and spoke with Shane and he said they discontinued it for
2006. No one knows why just that its gone. They told me the next best things would be the step 1 paint cleaner or the #9 swirl remover. When I asked about these products VS. the clay bar I was told that the clay bar is a surface only cleaner where as the step 1
and the #9 swirl remover are deep down cleaners just like the Body Scrub was

I just can not believe they discontinued such a great product, even the guys at Meguiars said they couldn't understand why that was done. Product line trimming? Who knows.

Lol... that could explain why I couldn't find it on their site.

From what I've read on Meguiars' forums, the paint cleaner will also take a little bit of clear with it. I have a new car, so I have no need for a more agressive cleaner just yet. I have Scratch X if I need to hit any rougher spots for now.

^ ^ ^ No it won't harm the paint at all. Are you sure you read that right? These products are supposed to deep clean the paint not remove any of it. Damn I can see I'm makeing another phone call.

No, I probably did not read it right.

I went back and it may have been something else that I was thinking of. I was doing a search on removing tree sap.

This site is also full of great stuff to make your car shiney and pretty. Sorry about the Body Scrub I don't know what to say other then Salvo must have bought them out and they have all thats left. Needless to say I know where I'm stopping on the way home.

I've seen that all over. However that is part of my original steps that I was encouraging people to do.

Yeah thats what they claim replaced it. I'm buying a case of the Body Scrub on my way home so I always have it, ef this !

But Kustom 96 Sunfire GT says he has it at his work so I guess it still can be found.

I can clay bar an entire car (windows, lights and body) in under thirty minutes. And no, it's not because I do it half assed, it's because I do it and then wash the car afterwards like you're supposed to. You must be wiping off each body panel as you go along. Clay barring shouldn't take more than thirty minutes. Just my .02 though.

Would this product be safe for carbon fiber at all?
