Does anyone know what the piece of plastic shielding is under the front of the 96-97 cavalier is called (curbguard?)? There are 2 curved pieces on the left and right side attached to the well shields and a big long peice under the radiator. I had a piece of truck retread get struck by the SUV ahead of me and it flew back smashing the center "curbguard" off. So does anyone know where I can find a replacement or what its called so I can look up this part?
Thanks in advance
You dont need this piece, it looks better with-out it.
i always thought the center piece was to help push air up into the radiator...but who knows, it definately looks better without it.
Its called the air dam and it does help direct air up to the radiator. I don't really see how it would look better without it since the inner fender pieces of it on the sides would still be there but whatever

can typically be found at a junkyard BTW.
It's your air damn like already mentioned. What it does at highway speeds is force air up ontop of the rad to help cool the engine, I don't know what it's like on cavaliers but I know on f-bodies if you don't have it (especially on firebirds) you get wicked huge overheating problems, I'd make sure you replace it, it's there for a reason!
I know for my Trans Am a new one only cost me 20 bucks from the dealer, you can try a dealer before the junkyard.
There will always be someone faster than you, but thousands slower and dumber than you.
