Underglow Voltage?

Hey, got a quick question . . . Kind of adding onto my previous issue . . .

My friends Eurolite series underglows are having issues and we think its the transformer. Well, go figure, the luck of Ebay, they sent the wrong transformer. The transformer they sent is a 5000 volt transformer meant for underbody lights, but his "Elite" series kit requires 9000volts. Stupid question, but would this work if it gets hooked up? His lights were just flashing when you turn them on before, so thats why we think the transformer is the issue. Could there be any bad side effects of hooking up a 5000 volt transformer for a 9000volt kit?

It probably won't turn on, or it would be very dim.

GAH! This is just pissing me off now! We installed the relay, the wire connections are good, the fuse and switch were swapped to better 30amp's, and the ground connections are solid. Yet the damn lights just flash! The only thing I can think of is the transformer!

umm dumb question, but is there a control box with different lighting settings?

No. The Eurolite "Elite" series is very similar to the Streetglow "Gold" series. No control settings, etc. The tubes connect to one another, and then connect to the transformer. Today we're gonna go check all of the shrink-wrap tube connections and try to fix the ground and see if it makes a difference .. . Its just so damn annoying.

Why not contact the eBay seller and tell them they sent the wrong transformer? Just about everyone on eBay is willing to make a wrong purchase right since selling success has a lot to do with positive feedback.

Ha, alas, you are right, they are willing to fix things. We did contact the guy and he offered to ship one with no problem ,he just want shipping paid for (which is fair). Yet, he sent the 5000volt transformer, when the kit requires 9000. We're still waiting for a response from that.
