Hey I'm trying to find a set of really bright head light bulbs for my girlfriends 02 fire, she does alot of night driving and the stocks just aren't cutting it anymore? If anyone has any suggestions on what and where to get let me know! Thanks in advance!!!
Sylvania SIlverstars they are about $20 a piece, that gets my vote, or doing an actual retrofit HID
hey, does anyone have a pic of what colour the silverstars look like? blue? white? purple? yellow? thanks
SilverStars are just bright white. My set cost $45 for my car, and it looks really good. Thats generally the best you'll find unless you go through PIAA or something else, but whatever you do, stay away from the Ebay "HID Xenon" bulbs. They are crap, not reliable, and will mess up your harness. If you are going for bright, the Silverstars would be your best choice, but if she wants to spend the money, the Silverstars wouldn't hold a wink against a HID conversion kit. How much is she willing to put into it?
Silverstars or PIAA Xtreme Whites both are 4000K. I have the PIAAs but they are mad expensive, but I love them. The legal color for halogen bulbs without HIDs and projectors are 4000K, stock halogens are about 3000K. My PIAAs came with a DOT compliance sticker for the engine bay so that the cops can't do much if they pull me over, hasn't happened yet, but always good to have.
hey, what bulb would u recommend if i am looking for a tinge of blue? without doing an HID conversion

Well once you start going for that "HID" color on an halogen bulb the viewing light output is not as strong, anything over 5000K on an Halogen is useless at night. HIDs can go up to 12,000K (purple) but its a completely different technology over halogens. With that being said.
Sylvania makes Coolblue, which has a bluish tint to them but are not as bright at their Silverstar line. Both the Silverstars and PIAA Xtreme whites have a "HID tint" at certain angles. Like I said before I have the Xtreme whites and there is a bluish tint if you look at the beam from a side angle, but the color is not appearent straight on. Now PIAA makes the Xtreme Force, which are 4700K, they are still pretty bright and white and have the closet "HID" look without sacrificing light output at night. Problem is that the Xtreme bulbs are $100 a set and are only legal in Japan. You may get away with it but its a risk with the cops, unless you go out and by projectors. I'd say if you want the HID look get HIDs, but if you want to stay with the halogen you might have to sacrifice being able to see at night.
Oh I also forgot to mention Plasma bulbs. They are much brighter then Halogens, close to HID looks. But again are expensive. I don't have any experience with them since my friend used them and fried up his harness. So I never bother with them and they don't offer them in all the conventional bulbs. Its an option though if you want to look into them.
I went to the parts store today and happened to wonder past silverstars

so i picked up a second set for my other cav
sucks havin a 1997 cavalier i need 2 sets of bulbs thats like 80 bucks on bulbs!!!
80 bucks on bulbs? try $120 with the fogs too. lol but its totally worth it, lights up the road very good. oh and i have all silverstars by the way. i cut the tab off a set of 65w bulbs and used them in the low beams, and i think i have 35w fogs instead of 27w
what do you guys recommend for some sick bright fog lights? I like running just my fogs and my corner lenses
