just like the title says, could all you ppl that have painted carbon fiber pieces plz post up some pictures of it.
i would like to see how it turned out.
i would really like to see a painted carbon fiber trunk lid.
thanks
Hmm it would look just like any stock part unless they didn't paint over all the CF...
look up darkstars he has a cf hood that has been painted on the sides. looks sweet as hell
yeah, ive seen darkstars' car.. its really nice. i would like to see a close up pic of his. and find out if they just taped off the carbon fiber and painted the base and then cleared the whole entire hood. i would like to find out if you can put clear over the gel-coat as well..
its just ive seen a few painted carbon fiber peices...and too me, they always looks dull and for some reason do not look right.

might not be what you were wanting, but this is a pic of my carbon fiber hood. I painted the whole thing white. I may go back over it and sand part of that off and do a design next time around....but thats down the road a bit.
i prepped it like anything else. sanded, primered, painted.
Check out my CARDOMAIN page
candy over the carbon will show both carbon and candy color.
its just like any other paint job. prep the area and mask off whats not being painted. then they paint the area, remove all the masking and clear everything. when its painted it looks like any other part.

i woulda never guessed that
porkchopsandwiches-THANK YOU! thats exactly what i was looking for!!! im assuming since the glare off both the painted and the CF sections looks the same that you went ahead and cleared the CF as well. looks amazing man.
another ?... so when i want to go ahead and clear over the gel-coat... do i scuff that down as well, or just spray it as it sits? i mean, i wont be doing the painting etc, but i would like to tell the body shop that it is indeed possible to paint over gel-coat.
cav fire...thank you as well.
im going to be doing something different not with my hood, but with a CF trunk lid, i will post pics up in the spring of my idea. but for now, im keeping it a secret.
thanks all, and i dont really understand why the post got moved, i was requesting PICS...why wouldnt that go in the PHOTOS and media forum?
well any good shop will know what to do when it comes time to clear the cf.
what type of rear is that?

for sale pm me or e-mail me for details

That look is gorgeous!
the beauty of it is you really cant tell its c/f until youre right up on it. going to the 04 bash i was driving on the highway when here comes snazzi up behind me. at first i was like "whose car is that" because i knew he had a c/f hood. then when he passed me i was like "oh @!#$, its snazzi!"

Wow. I can't believe Tabasco still has some pics of my cavy. The picture does not do the car justice. I have blue ice pearl mixed in the clear coat which was shot over the entire car including the carbon fiber hood & trunk.
