Can it be done without reinforcing the FG hood or would the bolts end up tearing out of the hood?

i was wondering the same thing for my cf hood, but gave up thinking i dont want my hood that far open anyways, lol

i have seen cavs with SS hoods with this mod, so its gotta be possible. just not sure how or if they reinforced it at all

? the gas lift shocks ?

If thats what you mean, just use the lower pressure shocks. I have a set of small ones on the lid of my tool box

Joey, I want your damn hood

It really depends on how the hood is made really as to the odds of cracking/breaking and what would be needed to make sure that it's "strong" enough.

I've seen fg hoods that were the exact same "shape" on the underside as a stock hood... and some that were not constructed in that manner.

Have to see what hood you're talkin about, but where there's a will there's a way

I'll have to browse through the member registry and see what I can find.

@Teske, I'm sure your dad won't mind if a set of hinges got "borrowed"

if you look at your CGP hood youll notice that they have metal inserts where the stock hinges go. either remove them from the stock mounting position and reglass them where you will be mounting the lesabre hinges, or just buy new ones (hardware store or lowes maybe? im sure there are many uses for them other than hoods) and mount them where you need them. glass them in good and you shouldnt have any problems.

btw the CGP sunfire ram air hood is sexxxxxy isnt it put some eyelids on it and youre good to go

Oh yeah... that makes some sense. Once I have the extra $$$ to get the hood (it hasn't been ordered yet) and its not half past cold outside, eyelids are the first thing. Actually finding the hinges locally is the next step

i got my lesabre hinge from a u pull it junker for $4. you really cant beat that price at all. and the metal screw/mount inserts shouldnt be but $5 for a set. so thats really not bad either.

and when you finally get your hood, drop me a line and see if i have anything to make the eyelid process go a little better. ive got an idea or two brewin

how would you open the hood? since it flips forward instead of the regular way...like how/where would the lock be, and hood release cable and all that?

this sounds interesting, something I might wanna do....

on the lesabres all that stuff is up by the firewall. either snag all of that junk when you get the hinges, or fab something up yourself. personally im just going to use hood pins with the key/lock up by the windshield.
