Leaking Tail Light??
Sunday, February 11, 2007 4:29 PM
Well I put my RK Sport CF Bezel and '02 Tail lights on a while back. They are just now starting to go through some harsh winter weather and I took the car through a car wash today. I came outside a while later and saw almost half of the driver side inner tail light filled with water. I have most of it out now (at least what I can get), but what do I need to do to keep this from happening again? The tail had all of the weatherstripping glued on and it was on tight. It almost seemed like the water was getting in through the light bulb socket thing on the back of the tail light in the trunk but idk how that would be possible. Anyone else with this problem please lemme know hot to fix...

if the water is INSIDE the taillight then that means you have a crack somewhere. thats the only way to get in. i would inspect your taillight and check for cracks.

There really aren't any cracks at all in the taillight. They must just not be touching the bezel somewhere and water is pouring in.

now is the water getting in to your trunk or in to the taillight itself. cause the taillight is sealed. the only way to get water in is throught the socket. thats why i mention a crack.

The seal on the tail light could be bad also.

The trunk is not wet inside (until I shake the water out of the light and it drips down there ). Also I thought of: the side of the tailight doesn't have any seal on it and water could possibly get in there. I might just get a new seal for it and see if that does it because if enough water gets in there, it will get to my bulb and short everything out.

it wont short anything out i wouldnt worry about that. but it does have the potential to blow your bulb. and if a new seal doesnt work. get a new light. i know thatl fix your problem.
