Hey guys, I've been having a bit of an issue with the headlights since i've swapped the 02 cavalier front onto my 99 sunfire. the bumper seems too low where it rests on the crush guard and i'm having a hell of a time with headlight gap, and wobble. I adjust the headlights all the way down snug against the bumper, but that leaves the car undriveable at night, then if I adjust it that i can see, it wobbles and has an inch gap all along the bottom and around the corners.
I've been told there is a 3rd adjuster to get the beam of light to go up after i've set the headlights in place, is this true?
I've also wondered if maybe trying to knock the crush guard up would level things out.
Another idea of mine was to pull the fenders up further to maybe slide the bumper back and more snug.
I might even be missing parts to secure things down, i have 4 bolts for the front bumper, plus 4 more of the black push in retainers. Am I missing something? Also, with the headlights, it's just 2 bolts holding in each headlight or am I missing something?
do you have the cage looking thing for the headlights
What crushguard is it? Cavy or Sunfire? If its a cav that you cut to fit it could just be you mounted it too low. i know when i had the 2k front with ls lip i had the same problem. but i didnt have a crushguard at that time. put one in and the bumper sat alot better but i guess when i secured the crushguard in the pass side tilted a little so i had to redo it. that would be about the only thing i would recommend, move the crushguard up some. When you installed the crushguard what did you use to hold in place? also were you using the predrilled holes in the rebar? All the rebars have all the holes drilled in them already for rivets. now i dont know if the holes are drilled in for sunfire as well but i know the cavalier rebars have holes drilled for all the cavalier bumpers, fogs, crushguards etc..

i wouldn't suggest getting the crush guard knocked up... then you have to worry about child support payments and all the rest.
if nothing else, maybe either move the crush guard up, or put something between it and the bumper to fill in the gap.
I went and snagged one from a Z 24 thats the stiff foam. My passenger side sits too low and wobbles while my driver side is nice and snug. When you trim the honey comb, the sides are only held by one riviot, the Z24 is a SOILD piece so i won't have that issue again. I even found the retainers at the pick n pull on sat. Made my day.
okay i think i know what the problem is.....i didnt have the crush guard in....the bumper is sitting on the rebar with the pre drilled holes. that must be where the gap is coming from. I remember when i was doing it I took it off because it was in the way and never put anything back in to replace it. What do the 02 cavy crush guards look like? they have to be different from the sunfire ones because of the noses being different.
it is it mine was honey comb looking that was riveted in the steel bumper
