I am thinking of using struts to hold my hood, instead of the rod. Has anyone done this before?
Any thoughts?
Yes, its been done before.

Jason @ A+ can get you a set of the struts if you so desire.
i did this back in '04... here's some pics:
i don't have them anymore. i sold them when i got my carbon fiber hood.
i bought mine from Jason at A Plus Performance (www.aplusperformance.com).
Phlatcav put them on his carbon fiber hood and they were awesome. I believe he just riveted them on or something.

i used rivets to put them on my stock hood. i didn't put them on the carbon fiber hood because i didn't want to risk breaking the hood. it's probably fine, but i'd rather not take that chance.
Anywhere in Canada sell these?

they should carry struts, but the mounting pieces are another story.
from what i've been told and heard riviting into a carbon fiber hood doesnt work the best. what i wanna see if they will fit are the struts from a civic or integra. on the hood side they dont actually bolt into the hood, they bolt onto the hood bracket..
Integra hood strut
cannon - how did you line yours up? it looks like you would have to put em on then try the hood, then try again, etc...like a trial/error process until you got it right...but how would you fasten it w/o it moving around and w/o riveting it. thats the reason i havnt gotten any yet. but they cant be that hard to install.

If you go to the site linked they have detailed instructions with measurements of where to mount them at.

Anyone can do it, it is just to find the right size strut and the mounting bracket. I am planning this one mod too.
not sure if youd need an account of any kind, but i learned about these sites at work..
has all the mounting hardware and even struts..not sure which route is actually the cheapest to go tho

My cousin has them on his 04, damn are those things nice. Only complaint I've got about them is you can kind of see them when the hood is closed. Not a real big deal for him, but that is the one reason I won't get them.

I'd like to do this, but not sure if I want to risk it with my carbon fiber hood.
