i have the lights out and i have the transparent amber paint, but i wanted to know if i should sand them first with fine sand paper, like 1500 or 2000 grit to get the paint to stick? or will this just make the light hazy?

you dont need to do anything it should be just like nightshading your tails. just spray it on, wetsand, clear.

well thats what i thought... but i'm reading on different web sites, different things. some wet sand some don't. the amber will be more transparent than the smoke, so i didn't know if wet sanding would turn the light hazy. i also know that sometimes if the surface is not prepped properly you get fisheys. i just spotted an extra pair of safety glasses laying around, i think i'm gonna test wet sand one side and not the other... we'll see what happens. thanks
i heard that there is a product you brush on instead of spraying on that is better for this application out there.
that's the route i'll be going. then i'll wet sand and clear.

if you go to Auto zone and find
Duplicolor METALCAST Adhesion Promoter, its like a clear primer to use for when ur using their METALCAST transparent paint. that will allow u not having to wetsand.
without adhesion promoter i would wetsand with 1500 first. As ur wetsanding the lense will get hazy.. but once u apply a wet coat of the transparent paint itll fill in all the scratches making the lense completely seethrough again.. atleast thats what happened what i niteshaded some tails and wetsanded the tails before i niteshaded.
thanks a lot guys. heres what i did... wet sanded w/ 1500. used PPG plastic adhesion promoter, and sprayed with amber tinted PPG clear coat. i work in a body shop so i just had my painter tint some clear for me. they look amazing.
