Headlights....well....they are GM
Friday, June 15, 2007 10:34 AM
We are a Chevy Family. I have two Cavs (2nd/3rd), My dad has a 03 cav, and my grandfather has an 03 sunfire. All the headlights suck except for my 2nd gen. Maybe its just because im used to my 92' but my 00's lights just arn't doing it for me.

So the Question is

Will new bulbs (like : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/9007-00-04-Cavalier-Nokya-Arctic-White-Headlight-Bulbs_W0QQitemZ160125690176QQihZ006QQcategoryZ36476QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem ) help me at all? will i be able to see better? OR will I have to buy projectors for anything to change.

Thanks in advance

Go buy some silverstars. They are better quality

I like Nokya because i have a pair of H11's and they are SO bright, because most bulbs are 50-55watts, and the Nokya is 80watts for the LO-BEAM! Silverstars are only 60watts i believe...

Keep in mind that using such a high wattage in a 55watt rated harness could possibly melt the harness altogether and cause problems done the rode. My boy did it to his BMW with Noyka bulbs. He wised up and got HIDs though now.

oh also silverstars are 55watts for the low beams. They are only brighter because they sit higher in the light spectrum. Silverstars = 4200K +/-, stocks are 3200 +/-. So they are brighter and "whiter" and lets not get into the K color discussion again, but since we are on the subject of lights, Halogens past 4300K are whiter but less bright. HIDs achieve a brighter light and color with the gas and lens filters that are used in the projectors. If you want bright halogens go Silverstars or PIAA Xtreme whites which I have. If you want brighter go with HID.

I have the Nokya bulbs in mine. They are NOT bright, but they give off a much whiter/blueish color. I also have a set of PIAA bulbs that I swap in before long highway trips. Much brighter but color isn't much different than stock.

From my experience if you want color go with Nokya bulbs, if you want more light output go with Silverstar or PIAAs, or if you want both color and more output go HID!

I had Nokya bulbs in my 01 cavalier and it started to get the harness hot so I took them out of the car. I am gonna either get the harness upgrade or just put in HID's at some point.

I have never had trouble with harnesses in any of my cars, and have used high wattage bulbs in all of them. I do plan to upgrade to HIDs in the near future tho.

9007's

Got mine from partsource

Walmart carrys them
Crappy tire carrys them

any 9007's will do, i was GOING to get some...ultra halogen silverstar thing...they wanted like 100 for them from partsource

anyhow, not hard to install at all, either.

make sure, if you get say...(APC 9007 ultra blues) (Just made that up...) for example... make sure it's street legal.

but yeah

silverstar, by Sylvania i think?
it has a light diagram on the back, to 'show' you what you're getting

Good Luck!

it DOES make a world of difference

Im thinking i may need a clutch soon, so i don't have the cash on hand to drop on a HID kit.

Its a Future Plan if i dont drop the car at all.

I thought I needed a clutch.

i didnt...i got the fluid replaces, as well as oil, and it works fine...

try that, first...check levels though, before getting new fluid, because they'll put new fluid in, if you get a new clutch.

good luck
