Clear Corner Legality?
Wednesday, December 12, 2007 5:53 PM
Is it illegal in some states to have clear corners? I want clear turn signals, but I don't want to ask for them for Christmas if they're illegal. I live in Massachusetts, and if anybody knew or had a reference, that'd be great. Thanks.

Most states require amber front reflectors, red rear reflectors.

So, as long as your corner light has that color reflector, shouldn't be a problem.

I have no idea what you mean by reflector. I did a quick lookup though, and would these be legal?

If so, I know another thing that's going on my list

Definitely get them from eBay, I got mine for $20 shipped and have never had a problem. And most states just require an amber bulb to be legal. I've got away with the stock bulbs though because they look orange anyway

the front turn signals have to be white or amber(yellow) the rear lights have to be RED or amber ..those are the acceptable colors..and yes it has to have a reflector..the lights linked above have reflectors and if im not mistaken most of the ftermarket lights ive seen have a DOT stamp on them that pretty much means "LEGAL"

WRONG. just because you see a DOT stamp on aftermarket lights does NOT make them legal. I have a set of Clear Outer Taillights that have DOT stamps on them and they are illegal.

as long as you have an amber bulb in it that way the orange light is reflected, and you should be fine. i doubt you would ever get stopped for it, worst case scenario put your stockers back in for inspection if you have issues. i had clears on for 2 years in NH and never had a problem.

Those tail lights were only illegal if you removed the inners

if you still had red reflectors (i.e inners or sunfire bumper) on the back of the car they were fine.

wrong they are illegal regardless. you need a red reflector on the rear that you can see from the side. that was the stock outers. take that away your left with none.

Here in Jersey they are considered legal as long as the reflectors can be seen from the rear.
