C/F Trunk With Spoiler

Am I retarted or something. I searched for a c/f trunk that has a spoiler pretty much molded in (like bought that way) but i can't find @!#$ for pictures. Anyone have pics of a c/f trunk with tails and some sort of spoiler (thinking about using the stock 03-05 spoiler)

you're thinking of the "whale tail" trunk from class glass. great company to work with and the trunk fits like a glove too. unfortunately, all of their c/f products come with a black gel coat over the carbon so you cant see the weave. but if you really wanted it you could sand the black gel coat off and reclear the trunk and everything would be cool.

is class glass the only ones who make the "whale tail" Really if I am gonna spend the money on a trunk and have to deal with fitment (i know that all have issues) then I want to see the weave. I guess I could always find a used on.

But if another compnay made that design it would be great.

class glass is the only company that makes this style trunk for the cav. again, you could sand the gel coat down so you can see the weave---it wouldnt be hard. and i had a c/f trunk from them (tryin to find a pic) and it seriously fit like a glove. installed in under 10 minutes and came with a new weather strip for the trunk because it was so light that the stock weather stripping was too big.

Ok I will look around for one. Maybe I can find one a lil cheaper than $550 lol but if they actually fit right then I may not mind putting some work into it. Just simple wet-sanding I suppose and then clear.

hmm...i didnt pay attention to the price...they used to be 450. oh well....carbon fiber has gone up a lot in price in the past few years.

anyway, good luck finding a used one....not many people got that style. most preferred the regular shaved trunk w/o wing. but yeah if/when you order it just ask them how thick the gel coat is and you should be able to get away with simply wetsanding it down and then reclearing it.

i know ben posted a pic in the first reply. i dont think anyone makes one that has a molded wing plus tails. you either have classglass which has a shaved trunk with molded wing or vis and jsp which has the tails but no molded wing.

Ok thanks I will check out the vis and jsp trunks. maybe I could just wrap my stock spoiler in cf......bit of a learning experience

an expensive learning experience since cf isnt cheap anymore plus your wing isnt molded into the car so you'll see a little step in the cf

you could always get a JSP or VIS trunk and buy the rk sport pro-stock spoiler then bolt it on.

Yea I didn't think about the layer difference....I want to try c/f some smaller stuff. I am decent with my hands but everything takes practice. I just need to find a decent place that sells it

^^^thats not what you use to wrap carbon. carbon is an actual fabric , not a laminate

I like the look of the 11oz but it says it does not contour as easily as the 5.7 oz but i guess that doesn't mean it is not posible

11oz

5.7 oz

maybe it is just my eyes messing up

Figured I would start with smaller things and work my way from there.

Thanks for your help Joey

its not fake but you dont want rigid. rigid is already hardened cf and it will be impossible to wrap something.
