I bought a 04 cavy from a guy on here for really cheap. When I got it home and looked it over more in depth I noticed something bizarre. He cut out the spare tire well. Now I'm wondering if thats going to make my body twist and what I need to do to make it sturdier. When he cut it out he riveted sheet metal in the place of the spare tire well. So I plan on welding a better piece of metal there. So when I do would it be a good idea to weld in bars that go across the trunk underneath or will it be fine. And do you guys have any bracing ideas ? Thanks for any help.
It should be ok....if your really worried you could go to the wrecker and get a spare well and weld it in....
i think just welding in a piece of sheet metal will be fine. theres not alot of body back there under too much stress to make it twist i would imagine.
sheet metal should do, but i guess if you already have the welder out, might as well throw a couple steel braces from underneat. couldnt hurt
what about rear (and front) strut tower braces? in addition.
^^ya, not a bad idea at all
hmmm... well that was retarded. i can't imagine it being THAT much lighter...
I would hope it wasnt done for weight savings. i definately dont see that dropping more than say removing the padding from the stock carpet
