LOL. Did it start to rust on you or what? I was thinking you just need a good base coat with a clear coat and it should be fine.
See if you can find Bulldog Adhesion Promoter - makes paint stick to ALL automotive surfaces as they say, including metal.

I used galvanized (means it won't rust) masonry mesh from Menards. It was about $8 for a huge a$$ piece of it. It is very thick and durable. It's been on the car for a few years now and it's never bent or anything. I recently painted it black which in my opinion looks better because it's less noticeable, but yet it still looks good. Just my .02.

yea, i mean you can see what it looks like now in my grill, only thing with black is after thinking it may be too much black in on the grill, the mesh + the outer-ring, so i might try aluminum look, to match my wheels

depending on what your looking for... you can find expanded aluminum mesh on some types of washable furnace filters. try home depot or some other hardware store. its not the best for large areas with no backing because its kinda flimsy.

here's the best shot i could find of my sunfire with it painted blue

hey Gary, if you want to make a trip to buffalo, I have a ton of extra mesh laying around. I still have the big RKSport mesh piece for the type-j bumper as well.

im right near the Depew/Lockport exit off the 90 if interested.

i'm not sure how your bumper is designied but on my sunfire the bottom vents have nothing to fasten the mesh to so i kinda folded it around the back and used some silicon to hold it in place

ya, i usually like to use epoxy for grills. quick bond, holds well, but can be removed fairly easily
