i bought this hood through flipspeed in the gp he had going last month, first off Aaron(flipspeed) is a very nice guy from the amount we talked he always answered my PMs(and trust me i sent afew) and kept me up to date. anyways i waited about a month for the hood to arrive and when it did i couldnt wait to check it out. my dad and i decided it would be best to put the hood on now since the cars in storage we would have lots of time to make any adjustments. well the first thing i noticed was a fairly large chip in the actual carbon fiber weave, then another then another, aswell the clear coat has lots of "fish eggs"(dirt in the clear) and in spots the clear coat is flat that was alright i was going to reclear the hood anyway this summer. then i looked along the edges and they just kinda end on the top side of the hood and dont wrap around to the bottom like the stock hood does IMO the hood looks to be very cheaply made it looks honestly like a used hood rather than one that was suppose to be brand new. the fit of the hood is decent even with adjustments it still sits kinda high on one side but for the amount i drive this car this hood will do for this summer then next winter im going to discard it and purchase a ViS one like i should of in the first place. i know lots of ppl who were VERY happy with there hoods from this GP but i am not one of them, i mean im happy with the way the hood looks on the car and how light the hood is, its just the quality of the hood i am not happy with. this is not meant to start a flame war or be a personal attack on Aaron or c/f tec its just me giving my opioion(sp?) on the hood i recived. now onto the pics they arnt that great cuz like i said the cars in my garage and we just had a blizzard here so theres noway im opening the doors to get better pics, once the car is outta storage ill take much better pics...
heres a pic of how the hood looks u can kinda see the one chip in this pic

close up of the hood, the weave looks very nice and the lines all match nicely

close up of one chip, pic sucks

and finally the edges that just end on the top side and dont wrap around to bottom
so there u have it take it for what its worth, IMO id NEVER order another hood from c/f tec...

aside from that chip, the hood doesnt look bad. rolled edges would be nice too, but overall the hood looks pretty good.

that seems to be the issue with CF Tec................you either get a great piece, or a fairly terrible piece. its hit or miss from my experiences/friends experiences with them.
couldn't you just dress the sides with some resin and sand it down all pretty?
as far as the chip...dunno what to say there

(tabs)-there is more than 1 chip theres about 3 im sure they are prolly from shipping but still the dirt in the clear and the flat spots and the edges cant be passed off as shipping damage..
jnickle-im not sure im not bodyman but really now who buys a hood thats suppose to be brand new and has to spent more money to make it look half decent? not me thats for sure haha..

Everything looks good in pics... you couldn't even see the cracked corner on the trunk from shipping (waiting on the claim to process)
I to was not impressed AT ALL in the overall quality, looks good in pics and from a distance. Its not horrible but I'm very very very picky with parts, I always expect things to be OEM fit and finish and nothing ever is. Honestly VIS > JSP, but seeing as I bought it for the weight savings I'm not overly concerned in the look, hell I'm even gonna throw hood pins in it LOL, I @!#$ hate hood pins.
dirt in the clear is a problem, for sure. but the clean cut edges were probably something you could have researched before you purchased (not dogging you for not doing it--just saying its an issue that could have been avoided) some people dont like them like that at all, but i never really cared that mine were like that. unless you have the hood up (or they dont fit correctly) you cant really tell that its like that. but i know the feeling of paying good money for something and then not getting what you expected. it always sucks when that happens.
but the chips were probably shipping related, so i would file a claim on it. you have X amount of days to do that, so you might wanna start the process. who knows....maybe you will be able to recoup the price of the hood from the shipping company? good luck either way.

Maybe I must have gotten lucky with my JSP hood, cause it's SaaaaaWEET! LOL, but seriously, my edges
are not rolled either, but I'm very happy with the quality.
Things like this are just really hard to tell over the net and stuff. some things people have said were great you see in person and realise their of average or low quality. alllot of it like darkstarts just depends on the person. some people see c/f and go all googly eyed and love it where as another person may see it and see the cut edges and flawed weave in it and just think its bad. another reason to be careful with what your buying.
