Lip Kit/ LS Kit
Wednesday, February 20, 2008 6:12 PM
I was wondering if the Lip Kits clip onto the Base Model bumpers, and same with the side ground effects. How much does the whole kit run. Just need some ideas because i plan on doing this, this summer. Hope to have it looking like T2's old car.

i think they have like tabs on the lip that clip into slits in the bottom of the bumper, but the base bumpers dont have the holes cut in them like the Z's did, so you would have to cut your own hols if you wanted to put it on a base bumper.

but dont quote me on that, i could be wrong

Yes, he is right. They can be put on any bumper from 2000-2002. You just need to cut little slits in the bottom to slide the clips into. There is little tabs on the top of the lip with a hole in it and once they go through the hole in the bumper there is a little clip that goes through the hle in the tab and hold s the lip to the bumper. There is also little places you could just put screws into to hold it on but then you would have to cut the tabs off.

I got my front bumper with the lip already installed, but installed my rear lip on the stock non-LS bumper. Not real hard just a little time consuming to make sure its straight.

If you need my front lip is not installed its waiting for paint, I could snap some pics of it.

Let me know!

Or if your getting a used lip and the tabs just won't work (mine were jacked up, looks like the lip was ripped of the old car) i cut the remaning pieces of tab off, then gorilla glued L-Brackets to the inside of the lip wherever there was a tab and then bolted the lip to the bumper. Very easy to do it just took a little time i removed the rear bumper cover and then of course waiting for the G-Glue to dry. So i didn't have to cut the holes in the bumper, but i did have to wait for the glue so whatever you see fit, although i feel like my bolts are probably going to hold up a little better than the stock clips, but if GM did it like that then it should be fine.

If you want pics, it would be no problem.

well i found a lip for my front bumper. The RK Sport one. The guy is offering it to me for $125...good deal?? He says it holds on with 3m tape and screws inside the wheel well. Tell me what you think i should do about that, take it or keep looking. And if any of you know where i can get ahold of the other pieces to complete the kit that would b appreciated very much. Just not looking to spend a ton on the kit.

decent price on lip. All i would suggest is putting in at least one support screw or bolt in the middle of that front lip so it doesn't sag after time. That 3M emblem tape will work really good to hold that lip on, but for added security use another mounting method in the middle.

$125 is a pretty good deal. I believe that front lip is about $175 brand new. 3M tape and screws in the wheel well will hold it just fine. If you're worried about it sagging, you can put a screw or two in the center section. The rest of the kit can be found at gravanatuning.com or carcustoms.net. Here's a link to a post with a ton of pics of that lip installed, so you can get an idea of what it looks like. click me
