Turbo sport Hood installation
Friday, February 15, 2008 10:03 AM
I just goot the Turbo Sport hood from gravana. I am having some issue's with getting it to close. It seems it is hitting the air box before i can latch it. Any idea how to resolve this?

adjust the bump stops on the rad support.

I have adjusted the latch itself up as high as it will go. I can get it to latch only after I have removed the top to the air box. so I don't think moving the stops up will help it latch down. but thanks for the help anyways.

I am in the same boat, I cant get my fiberglass hood to latch completely either. I tried removing the 2 bumpstops in the front, but I dint mess with the two that are further back...
Guess that will be my next step....any other suggestions?

^^^I wouldn't. but there is a thin spot right in the front of the hood I need to take care of before I go slamming it....I just LOVE working with fiberglass (sarcasm)

I've never dropped a hood that was anything but steel. I always push down to latch on anything that isn't steel....

Well, I completely removed all the rubber bumpers, and raised the latch as high as it would go, and I STILL can not get my fiberglass hood to engage the second latch. I can manually operate the latch with a screwdriver, and it works fine (although tight). A heavy steel hood will work it just fine, but the light fiberglass wont. Any modification I can do to the latch (take a spring out or change it to lower tension one or something)? Any help is appriciated....it would be nice to be able to close the lid once I finally get it up & running....

Joey,
Do you think that is the problem, or do you think it is because the hood it to light to actually trip the latch? Why dont you just take a trip down to Pittsburgh and give me a hand with it

I am going to take another look at it tonight, see what I come up with.

couldnt really say without seeing pics...but i know when i used to close my TS hood or any cf hood for that matter, i set it into the latch, then push down on the hood right where the latch is underneath. never had any issues with the multiple hoods ive had in the past

^^^Well I ended up making some custom hood latch springs that are much lower tension (but still have plenty of tension to retain all the latch functions), adjusted the bumpers, and everything lines up and works perfectly.

Thanks for all who helped....MUCH appreciated...

Hmm... Maybe use a Sunfire latch... They are more able to do this instead of the Cavalier latch. That is what I know friends of mine have done in the past to fix this same problem.
