hey there gang ive gotta an autoloc solenoid on my hood latch that is all but dead. i cant find the box to see how big it was ( it was on the car when i bought it) so my question is how heavy of a solenoid will i need to pop the hood with no problems. i was thinking a 40 lb should do it but after looking at that spring i forgot how heavy it was.

the stock hood weighs more than 40lbs. but pretty much any aftermarket hood should weigh no more than 25lbs

I would say a 40lb would be more then enough to just pop the latch. Is there any numbers on the solenoid?

ive got a carbon fiber hood so it weighs about 7 pounds. there is a plate covering the solenoid so i will have to take the cover off to get to the solenoid
