Scratches From Washing - Please Help

Hey there!
I'm hoping someone out there can help me. I have a black 2004 sunfire and I swear everytime I wash it a hundred new scratches appear. I even bought a mircofiber sponge and chamois. But still more scratches appear. It's to the point that I'm too afraid to wash my car. Would one of those car washes at the gas station be better? Should I be taking it to a detailer everytime it needs to be washed? What am I doing wrong and how do I fix these scratches?

You should just learn how to wax your car, then you wont have to take it to a detailer.

Buy a claybar kit and your car will look like new. I felt your pain when I first bought my car.

ah yes the bonus of having a black car. Regardless of what you do, fine scratches are going to appear. Don't go to the local gas station, this will make things worse usually, unless you don't use the foam brush at all, which won't get much dirt off now will it. A good thing to invest in if you hate taking it to detailers, is a real buffer (not a canadian tire simoniz one) and some polish and wax. It will take the scratches out, and shine it up really nicely. However if you are bad at it, you can only make things worse.

Detailing is not a very easy job it takes time to get real great at it. but like they said wash and wax it thats the best thing. theres this stuff you can buy that detailers use i cant think of the name of it ( i havent been a detailer in over 2 years) Its something black i'll try to figure out the name this coming monday and let you know. but you can call a dealership and ask if you can buy stuff off their carbrite van or you can search carbrite on yahoo and order the stuff. but if you never really practiced or worked a buffer i dont recommend one till you can practice on way. They can get very tricky it takes awhile to get the hang of one.

Dont go to a car wash!!!! especially dont go to a automatic one those will scratch your car more then you can even imagine.

ok I had to see what it was which didnt take long its called black pearl there is different compounds but get the compound that sounds best to you, Quick Seal works great too its for getting rid of minor scratches. And I forgot about it but if anyone wants to know whats great to clean the interior with get E006 XTRA DUTY AEROSOL trust me you will think me in the end. Stuff works great

Brite shine from car brite is one of the best stuff for your tires or your door handles or anything else that has a rubber or black plastic outside piece. works great.
