Ok so i got the typical rust on the bottom of the doors on my 98 fire. So far its only on the inside except for 1 tiny area on driver door. To me it doesnt seem to be beyond savable. it sorta made the metal look llike particle board does when it gets wet. Anyway im not really a body man so here is what i was thinking i would do to fix it and hope that if this is a good idea ill get the go ahead from you guys or if not get some hints to point me down the right road.
First i would use a wire brush on the die grinder to clean up as much of it as i can. since its not a level surface the DA wont work.
next i would clean the area of grease and what not and use Eastwood company's rust encapsulator with a brush to take car of whats left.
then basicaly i was thinking that with a bit of light sanding i could prime and paint the area again. would probably use rattle can.
its the last step of painting again that makes me unsure of how it would turn out seeing as my car is white and i know the color wont be spot on but i would want it close.
Sounds good, just try to use something other than rattle can if you can, and if not, at least cover it with clear.
Check out like napa or your local car paint supplier and see if they can mix you up a rattle can of the paint code for your car and use that then shoot with clear.
