Paint

Just before anyone says anything, I do realize this is a hard question to answer.

I am wondering what a good quality paint job that will actually last would cost. I have very minor body work that needs to be done. I have a few dings around the car and some rust under the lip of the hood. That's it.

Thanks.....

Are you just having the exterior shot, or are you going to have the underhood shot, doorjambs, trunk, etc? If you're doing a color change, you want to get all of these areas to do it right. If you're sticking with the same color, you can get away without doing it.

If you skip those, with the body work, a typical quality job (at least in my area) will run you anywhere from $3500-5000 with 2 stage paint. I understand that this is a wide range, but without really knowing the body work you need, this is as close as I can get you.

If you do the jambs, trunk, and underhood, add anywhere from $500-1000.

Yep, same for here too.
You have to remember, at least a quality shop, will pull both bumpers, all the door/window mouldings, locks, handles, windows, head/taillights, marker lights, spoiler, and wheel well liners.
Better quality jobs will pull the windshield, back glass, quarter glass, and will jamb all the doors, the hood, bumpers, fenders, and trunk.
And you have to keep in mind the tech has to get paid for all this work and then the painter has to get paid to sand the whole car, mask the whole car, shoot sealer if changing color, shoot base (color), and shoot clear, and then the body tech has to be paid to put it all back on.
$3500-5000 is a pretty good number but that doesn't even begin to include custom paint colors.

Some more info.

1.) Same color
2.) 5 small dings
3.) Rust under lip of hood
4.) Chips all over front bumper..

Again, maybe something else can be done to the car instead of a whole repaint job.... ????????

why would you repaint the whole car if you only need the front bumper and hood fixed?

My concern is if they will match it up good....

seriously it just depends on the shop. u could go to macco and have that done for around 400 bucks, or you could go to a guy that only does show cars and be charged 7 or 8 grand or your middle of the road shop and be charged 2 grand or 4 grand.

reality is you just need to find out who does good work in your area and take the car and get a quote. go to a few diffrent places and check out their work, the time they say it will take, how they will treat your car etc. you can't get any solid info on the net about cost.

You practically have the same car as me, its black. I replaced my front bumper and trunk, and had them sprayed black. Cost me 300 bucks (At Maaco) but I just brought the parts to them. Just get your front and hood redone. Give the car a wash, clay-bar and wax the whole car. And it will all look the same.

And if theres dings on the car, you can get paintless dent removal. around here it costs about 75 bucks a dent though. Still cheaper then a repaint really.

for just the stuff you need done no need to do a complete, we can match and we do blend panles for match, the shop i work for bodu labor is at 65 an hour paint time too, custom work it goes up to 100 an hour, but anyway no need to repaint the whole car and blow a life savings when you can spend alittle over 1,000

can i haz bondo

Oh, and I need to fix my side skirts too... I also have some over spray around the front lower ground effect as I think somebody used some black spray paint to fix up some gray issues.....

Don't ask.
