I'm talking about the rectangular piece by the back doors of a sedan. Both of mine are cracked in the middle and I was wondering what is the best way to go about repairing them? My first thought was glassing them but if they're some kind of plastic, I'd rather not lol.
Are you talking about the b-pillar, on the actual door itself?
or the metal piece going from roof to 1/4 panel/trunk area?
If it is the B-billar, buy new ones, they're relatively cheap....probably less than fiberglass and painting existing ones.
My description made more sense last night lol. I don't think it's metal since both of mine are cracked in two.
you should be able to pull it out. they are glued in place. it's just a rubber molding.
Yep... Resurrected J said it best... you can get them at any dealership for $30 for the pair. I got some new ones before my paintjob... just make sure you glue them in correctly and before paint!! Oh, and they don't come painted just grey like the original stock grey bumpers!
The dealer wanted about $46 and GMpartsdirect would've been about $30 shipped so I thought I'd try to get some from the junkyard. I went to Pick-n-Pull and it literally took me five minutes to pry both off and it only cost $10 for both.
So, if you're looking to replace yours, try your local junkyards first and bring a pocket knife.
