I'm trying to decide on the style of my DD,

Do I keep the details on the side? Or remove em for a cleaner look?

Please dont critic the PS skills. it was a quick blur out just to get an impression of how it'd look.

Lose the decal and guards. Paint the door handles and mirrors. Lower it.

yea remove the badge and molding then paint the calipers and drums back to black, then lower it and you'll be at a nice starting point.

No problem. I'm a poser car nut, with very little real mechanical skill so far, but I'm learning too.

Lowering springs are the key to lowering, yes -- but in reality they need to be accompanied by upgraded "lowering struts" also. Any strut designed for normal "OEM" Factory heights will not last or be comfortable or safe at lowered ride heights. These specialized struts are fairly pricey, but regardless of how strapped for cash you are they are worth saving for.

Some good options:
Struts:
Koni "Yellow" Sport struts (good with any spring)
Tokico D-Spec struts (good with any spring)
KYB AGX Struts (lower only up to 1.5" or equivalent to Pro-Kit height)

Springs:
Eibach Sportlines Springs (about 2.3" drop)
Eibach Pro Kit (about 1.5" drop)
Road Magnet Springs (2.3"+ drop, reportedly more comfortable than Sportlines)
Lots of others out there, but quality varies.
