Yep it's confirmed, the Cavalier is still continuing till third quarter of 2005 or for the 2005 model year.
No, these are fleet sales, they will be sold side by side withe Aveo and Cobalt.
Prices will go up by $100-200. With no significant type of changes. You may get some hardware changes and updates, like "rolling changes."
2005 should be arriving to dealers soon too.
Just an update on the Cav status.

As long as they are still being sold (wherever it's made), the depreciation wont fall off the cliff like I expected it to when I thought cavaliers were going out of production in October. I expected GM to get desperate and sell the new ones off really cheap, which would in turn kill the value (even moreso than it already is) of every other cavalier out there now. As it is they are getting rid of all their old stuff on them with the "Special Edition" Cavalier coming out shortly. I'm just looking for a decent reliable (or familiar as with the cavalier to me) vehicle that will have some kind of re-sale in 7 or 8 months and not kill my insurance.
Whenever this is released to the press, please post it up.
I wonder if they will have 2.0ls/c and 2.4l vvt applications in the 2005 j. Most likely not, but it would be sweet to do so.
what about the fire?
The sunfire is supose to go on untill 2006 as far as I know in some places. Anyone know anything else about that and if that is true?
I guessed that awhile ago, see this message and thread (re Cavalier Extreme Intro)
http://www.j-body.org/forums/read.php?f=7&i=215096&t=215057#215096
Cavalier prices generally increase through-out the year, but the rebates still make them very attractive.
I had a hunch the Aveo could not compete with the Cavalier (from a sales perspective), and the Cobalt will be in another price range. It makes sense for GM to change course and keep the J Body alive. I know that up here in Canada dealers have had no trouble selling them.
This is info i've been sitting on for a while waiting to see if anyone else posted it before me,
the owner over at the dealership here in town is my dads friend, and he told me they would be selling the cavalier in 2005, i said I knew that, all the 04 models left in stock, and he said no, they would be selling the brand new ones, the 05's,
I was like
and then he explained to me that they had gotten a GM Dealer info release saying they would keep the model at least until the end of the year, and who knows beyond that, something about unexpected Cavalier sales jump in the last 2 or 3 months,
and the owner also said GM is disappointed about the Aveo's sales #'s, so he thinks the Cavi will live for a while longer, I just hope were all right and this aint just a rumor, cause frankly I'm excited, maybe GM is realizing their cutting off an arm when they should be building up its muscles, if you know what I mean,
sorry for the long post, lots to say I guess, JAMES
long live the KING!
or wait.. the cavaqueers!

if GM was smart about it (which they are not), they should make this years Cavy something better. better suspension, indypendant rear suspension, better interior, maybe bring back the Z24 and drop the 2.4 eco motor in it. that is what id do. but that is just me
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
Nope, production of the cavalier will finish in oct....For right now, the Cobalt will
built on a seperate line as they break them in at lordstown...so there will be some
2005 Cavs.....

i honstly think gm should ditch the aveo, and put a lil money into giving the cav a lil better interior and run it a few more years.....sales of the cav will own the aveo's sales any day
cavalier and the cobalt would be a sick small car duo for gm! lol
yeah it would be with one taking sales away from the other!
Smart thinking!

umm there not really in the same class...cavalier would be the cheap, basic transportation or a sub-compact car (competes w/ Rio,accent etc)
the cobalt is considered an "upper" level small car, or even a sporty car in it's top form (competes against corolla, civic, sentra, rsx)
Your trying to tell me that our j-bodies would compete with freaking KIA's?!?
dude thats pretty crappy....our cars are better than Kia's...Not to mention in order to compete with that level of cars...there wouldn't be any options for the cavys...it would just be the base model eco with manual everything no LS sport no nothing...
Also..not to sure, but I dont think our cars classify as subcompacts...aren't they just compacts?
