Since when does expressing my concerns for a better bash make me or anyone for that matter a "girl"? Piss off tard.

Geeds,

My bad. You're absolutely right. I'll formally say that I might be there. I'd still like to see a GM appearance and a raffle for parts.

Middle of nowhere, 1/8 mile track...

Sorry, Tim, thanks for the effort but I'll probably end up passing.

MapQuest says for me to go down 94, then hit 57 and take it the rest of the way........ or I could take 43 to 39, and hook up with you guys in Peoria....... either way, I'll have to go put in for time off at work Now to decide which car to bring

if i do go, i'll caravan down with you. my baby's mommas b-day is that weekend. and we are starting to work things out, so if we are on good terms or back together by then i probably won't make it. otherwise i'm good to go.

1/8 mile racing? who gives a flyin fook....you goin to race or meet a bunch of J people? you wanna race? stick to your local track I'm goin to meet the people I've talked to and in my case met several times. Come on, where else do you get to hang out with someone as goofy lookin as teske j/k It's a good time, and really if you're going for the show, and to prove you have the bigger penis on the race track, then just stay home. We're there to have fun and meet the people behind the wheel of the cars we love. your car is stock? SO WHAT! That doesn't mean I can sit back, have a few beers and have fun with ya. This is my 5th straight bash, and probably going to be the hardest one for me to make....but bet your ass I'm comin somehow, someway! I guess depending on job situation decides if I bring a car or not.

i gotta go with paul on this one. didnt the bash start out as everyone just getting together, then it got big, and then when it was talked about going back to its roots most everyone agreed, and now that the track is only 1/8th mile people decide its not worth it?

i guess 660' of concrete is more important to some people then the friends they have made on the board.....

^^ Nice to see you agree with me. however, the inherent flaw with the program is that the bash was huge, and that is good, but it has been consistently moving further and further west, which I wououldn't normally complain about but I think that with the exception of Lenko and the Colorado guys last year i didn't see many people from out west. the core group of people who attend this event are from the Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and upper east coast region. the drive got almost 4 hours longer for me by Mapquest, and it is pretty accurate from my last trip through Illinois.

The heritage of the show is gone as there is no longer a tie in of any sort with Lordstown, last year was an amazing venue with an amazing track that offered some great competition, who can forget the last Quick 8 race with identical ETs? To move it to a smaller track, smaller venue, in the middle of nowhere Illinois makes me wonder, at least there we side things to do as it was Indy!

Sorry last years awards we were well done, though there were WAY to many classes with only one person winning as that was all that was entered in the class. Its nice that there is a "beach" 20 minutes away that is something I want to go and do when trying to get my car ready for a show is get sand in every nook, cranny, and crevice.

As for the drinking I think that is also a little overrrated, anyone remeber what happened to the guy who passed out on the Thursday night before the bash, no one checked his car and it got ran sacked by guys who were scoping the lot out before 9! Fun is fun, but there is no need to drive 9 hours to the middle Illinois for that kind of fun, do it in your backyard.

Sorry, I made my decision, I am out for this year, JCO in Ontario had almost as many cars as the bash did last year. I appreciate the effort that is being put forth, but forgetting why we have done what we have done, and were we came from make no sense to me.....

You mean the bottom of Illinois...

The further west the show has gone, the smaller it has gotten. Geographicly there are less people in the middle of the country. Too many wide open spaces. The bulk of the population of the US is on the east coast. Remember the St. Louis Bash? How small was that? And last year in Indy... not very big either. Personally, I don't think it makes a very good business sense to hold the event in this area of the country. If you don't want to lose as much money, the show needs to be held where a greater populous of people has access to it.

Please don't take this the wrong way, I am not a Bash basher. I love the event, everyone knows that. Tim and his team always bust their butt to make it a great event for everyone. But after the scare of not having one this year due to financial losses last year, this move doesn't make much business sense to me. I'm just worried about how this may effect an event next year and beyond...

Because Ian this location isn't all about money. It takes a lot of time to set up an event like this. And As I know from personal experience having a baby and taking care of a Newborn takes a lot of time. Newborn > Bash.

But with me I don't care if it is Las Vegas I will be there. I have just enough time to plan this Bash and Luckily it did land in a Week that I have nothing planned.

I go for the meeting of people on this board. Everthing is a bonus.

Also the Bash is no longer just for J Bodies. It is for all GM Small Cars if you plan to expand to all GM Small Cars then if you have to keep classes open even if only 1 car of that model shows up. In hopes that same person shows up and a couple more the next year.

I was really hoping that this event would happen...and would happen close.

But, I think that the bottom of Indiana is a bit much for me...5-6 hours at best is a little much for me..I'm sorry...I really wanted to go to this if it did happen. See some other J's and such..People here on the org too!.

I made it from Ann Arbor,MI. to Hershey, Penn. for the Import war last year...that was the first and last time I make a hell of a drive like that in one weekend...was a tiring trip.

I know a lot of effort went into this too make it happen, I would love to go....but that drive would kill me. It ain't happen'n. Sorry.

Good luck with the event....hope the weather is nice for it.

No doubt, I have to agree with Ian and Paul on this one.

I'm disappointed to say the least regarding location/planning for this year's bash. Myself along with my local J owners are having a really hard time wanting to attend this year, and I highly doubt we will be.

After the bash at IRP all that was discussed was the cost, so how money isn't an issue beyond me. If money isn't an issue, why the hell was this location chosen? Cause the convenience of a fairground/track being close together?

My number 1 reason for attending the bash is for the people, but my number 2 reason has always been for the location/atmosphere it's held in.

Going to Lordstown was exciting for me, home of the J, nice little trip to Ohio...............Indy was just as nice, bigger city, IRP etc........................southern IL, fairgrounds and hick 1/8th mile racing. Sorry you lost me there.

Honestly I'd rather see a rise in the cost of registration versus cheapening the venue which the bash is held at.

in my mind its always been about FRIENDS!

as most of you know i could give two @!#$s about this site and the cars, but then again i've gained a ton of friends from this site, and its nice to see a few of them once a year. im sorry that the few that wont make it out because it is either in "hick" town, or it has a small track.

I would like to see you guys in Tim's shoes for once. HE PLANNED THIS ON A LIMITED BUDGET AND OUT OF KINDNESS. In his heart he didnt want to see the bash die so he went back to its roots to bring it back, even if he was strapped for cash. It just seems that everyone has something to bitch about. Hell there would be the same amount of bitchin if it was $100 regrestration fees, and in the middle of a huge City. Take what you can get and if you dont like it so be it.

That is all i have to say about this. If i push a few wrong buttons so be it, take it up with me at the bash. ill be the guy having fun with my friends.

Glad this got moved to a more frequented forum.

I'll be attending in spite of:

-The 12 hour drive
-The lackluster location
-The 1/8th mile track
-Time lost at work

I'm just trying to be honest with my opinions, but meeting people like Paul (Sac) and Tony (cannon fodder) is too much of a draw for me to pass this up.

Rest In Peace, Saint.
