Induction Dynamics Ranko-Dawn™ 2.4L LD9 Intake Manifolds

Induction Dynamics has completed the development of their Ranko-Dawn™ Race Intake Manifolds for the GM 2.4L LD9 Engine. These manifolds will be unlike anything currently available. Ranko-Dawn™ Manifolds are a brand new design that features flow rates much higher than any currently available manifold (including the 2.3L Quad4 High Output Manifold).

Constructed from 6061-T6 aluminum Ranko-Dawn™ manifolds will be able to satisfy both the Naturally Aspirated and the Forced Induction minded. The manifolds will be equipped with four 1/8" NPT ports for vaccum connections, gauges or Nitrous Oxide delivery. The manifold accepts up to a 62mm throttle body as long as the factory bolt geometry is retained. Soft copper gaskets for the manifold-to-head and manifold-to-throttle body are included as are 316 Stainless Steel fittings and plugs for all NPT ports on the manifold.

Ranko-Dawn™ Intake manifolds are intended mainly for extreme racing applications and are not a friendly OEM replacement. The use of this manifold REQUIRES that the battery be relocated to the trunk, and requires the use of a special COLD AIR INTAKE.

NOTE: All current Induction Dynamics Cold Air Intake Customers who purchase a Ranko-Dawn™ Intake Manifold will receive the special Cold Air Intake for free.

The full production will begin after the first FIVE orders have been made. Induction Dynamics will extend SPECIAL pricing to these first FIVE customers. The pricing for the Ranko-Dawn™ Intake Manifold will be released by mid-late October.

- Option #1: Ranko-Dawn™ Manifold w/ flange ports matching the factory head ports.
- Option #2: Ranko-Dawn™ Manifold w/ flange ports matching the ID-Spec Race Head ports.

The Induction Dynamics Advantage

One of the main disadvantages of the current manifolds is their inability to match the "B-shaped" LD9 intake ports. Or if they match they are not done properly. The Induction Dynamics CAD-modelled design provides a smooth transition from the circular runner to the B-shape without any change in the cross-sectional area and therefore no significant fluid pressure drop, The Induction Dynamics design is CNC machined from a single piece of aluminum so there are no weak weld points or flow disturbances.

** Flow chart results **

Induction Dynamics Ranko-Dawn™ Manifold VS. Stock = 48% flow increase
Induction Dynamics Ranko-Dawn™ Manifold VS. 2.3 HO Manifold = 37% flow increase

I know. Please keep in mind, this is the first one ever made - it's the prototype. Wasn't exactly meant to look good. The final product sold to the general public will be a little more eye-pleasing to my knowledge.

honestly i dont see any reason , that intake has to sit that far over towards the battery

anyways, looks like a good design. i want to see the final product.

and ? is, does it still accept the EGR?? i doubt it though
lol @ MA Cavi...... resize that sig..... and rethink your ???

Its a good idea....... and is funtional (from the flow charts)...... but damn..... not what I was thinking about making.

Figured someone was going to ask the price ... but I'm guessin you (MA_cavi) won't be buying one since your next post was a really, really dumb question (sorry it was ... but to answer it anyway, 'no' you can't have both).

I'd like for them to receive 5 orders but I'm not too sure it'll happen. Maybe if they could change the runner design so that you didn't have to move the battery *wink wink*. I'm thinking about purchasing the flange and log and getting custom tubes welded.

I think it looks awesome BTW.

Of course you didn't think of making that Those are mechanical engineers that designed this and their amazing intake Hehe... just bugging btw

That intake is freakingly amazing and I can't wait to see it on my buddies car(they are from ottawa and I'll hopefully get to see that intake manfold soon!!! )
Looks good...performance-wise. I just hope you guys put the older 96-98 2.4L peeps in mind that they have EGR to deal with. Is this something that can be used with EGR?

People tend to forget about the EGR.
Is the kit gonna come with a battery re-location kit.......and what about a t.b. throttle cable bracket?

How much is this "special cold air intake" gonna cost?

And what do you mean by " intended for extreme racing applications and not a friendly OEM replacement"? What drawbacks does it have that it can't be used in a daily driver?

damn that IS a huge sig... "thats a huge b%@#$"

i thought someone was just posting pictures

but is it necessary from a design standpoint to have that long of runners? battery relocation might be a prob for some 2.4 owners...
MA cavi, GM charger replaces the intake manifold so you couldn't use both.
*drools*
uhm...yeah
pretty sure thats FOCKING AWESOME
one question...
you stated that the "B-shaped" intake ports on the 2.4 head were hard to match...and then u stated that you had roound ports that work just fine..
question is, if this manifold does truly flow more than the 2.3 HO manifold...
can you use this manifold on a 2.3 HO head??

im planning on putting a 2.3 HO head on my 2.4 "PLANNING"
was jw if this intake could be used with that head...thanks

I saw the flange for this manifold months ago, & the ports are matched to the 2.4 head ports in shape. This flange made me want to ditch my mantapart one

I would diffently buy one if you didnt have to relocate the battery. And of course you guys dont charge a arm and leg for it. but it looks good and I cant wait to see the finished product. GREAT JOB GUYS

this might be a good addition for Karos NA beast, definatelly not real practical for someone like me who needs to drive sun, rain, and snow year round.
Exactly what I want to know too since I can basically do anything to my intake side and still be within the rules of autocross, but I do drive my car on a daily basis (well until I can get some $$ for a winter beater.)

I e-mailed them and they said that they are projecting the cost to be about $1200 US, and I also asked about the EGR hopfully they will answer that question tomorrow
Totally amazing. I have been watching them build it up over the last 8 months on Racers Edge Forum. They have invested over 5 figures in the design. Very very wel done. Not for the faint of heart and most of the .org kiddies.

Jesus $1200? Honestly move to the United States or something.

I could justify $700-800, but $1200? ouch.. I'll stick w/ my port matched HO manifold for just a wee bit longer.. May not be as pretty, but it is matched up the way it needs to be.
