Every time I look at this whole subframe thing, i'm glad I did a 3400.

Subframe was easy.... but I realize the 3400 was easier, cannot beat stock motor mount location for the easy part of installation that's for sure.

So am I. However, I've been looking at making an aluminum version of this subframe extender for added chassis rigidity.

Thinking about this swap myself, is there a shop located in MD that could help me out with this?

Victor

I'm sure there are lots of shops just about anywhere that could do this swap. Do you have $10k to give a shop to do this? This swap will take even an experienced shop at least 80 hours to complete. That isn't including an engine trans or other parts. Be very cautious if you pay a shop to do this and they give you a low estimate because they likely don't realized the work involved.

The motor mount's will be the most difficult to fabricate for the swap, they have to be beefy... the jbodies aren't made for the torque the 3800 comes with.

The motor mounts are easy . . . Its the whole subframe you have to build around it that is a deal breaker.

Mine was opposite, subframe can me literally measured up, mocked and welded up in an hour, all you are doing is boxing the bottom in and using the existing subframe, very simple.

subframe is retardedly easy if you try not to re-invent the wheel remove stock lower eng mount, driverside cradle brace, and lower rad support

weld 2 1/4 plates to the top of a 2x2 square tube bolt it into the stock lower rad support then where the lower engine mount and cradel brace was wled a 2x2 piece of square tube to the new rad support then bolt into factory lower mount location whats so hard about that mount location is the hardest part as you want proper shaft angle. i will be making mine out of aluminum this winter just for the hell of it

Just out of curiosity what are you guys running for angle on the axles ... I'm thinking about 3-5* of angle. Should I be horizontal or have a slight angle?

I have never measured my angle, but it is very even. I have the aluminum control arms which help with it, I have always assumed the straighter they are, the less likely to snap, less binding!

That is the same route I am taking. I have a 2000 to begin with so it should be even easier for me. Would you happen to have a wiring diagram I could use to start with?

What should I do with the fuel lines? Cut them off at the hardline and get fuel line rubber or get braided lines? Or some other ideas?

i would and did use -6an braided lines russel fittings makes quick connects think they call them ls1 or lt1 quick connects these will connect to the stock 3800 fuel rail and to the stock hardlines

see the 3rd gen section for the 3800 sticky there posted there

its safer then hacking the stock 3800 plastic lines

Did you use the Russell Braided lines as well? I looked and all I found was 2' braided fuel lines and from the looks of it they will be to short.

yeah i made my own you can get X amount of hose and the fittings and make them whatever length you want

its the pricest way to do it but its the safest and will not have an issue, i had a peiced together system and blew a power steering line after it melted on the manifold after 50km of driving and that scared me enough to get the fuel one done right, steering fluid undercoated my engine bay, fuel would have been worse and not worth the safety risk

You used the Russell hose and fittings for it? What was the size on the power steering pump? I should probably do that as well while I am at it. Eventually I am going to do every that I can.

i used a stock 3800 power steering line i had a 2200 line when it blew you should have no issues with the 3800 line as it comes up the other side away from the manifold

For the 3.8l v6 and all others including the 2.4 twincam: the 4T60E/4T65E are all interchangable transmissions. The 65hd has a different diff cover and has a smaller cv shaft than the 4T60E and 4T65E because of differential assembly. The N/A 3.8 has the 3.29 differential assembly you want while the 2.4l has 3.05 and the supercharged 3.8 has the 2.9 diff. Plus the chain gear ratios are the same in the 3.8s being 35/35 whereas the 2.4l 4T60E has 33/37 plus a higher stall torque converter. These mods WILL bring your 4T65E or HD trans alive with this setup. No one really knows jack crap avout the interchanges. Not even some fruitcake Zyaaaa flying around on here...

And when did the 2.4 start being able to be put on a 4T65E?

And how exactly did your post relate, asides from the part at the end where you posted to make yourself look like a jackass.
