That's funny. Oh well their loss of a sale. Not that it matters much to them.

in the write up it lists the parts needed with part numbers but mantapart is out of business so i was wondering if anyone has the part numbers from a different supplier

im lost? what exactly do you need from mantapart?

all the 2.3 pump swap parts are either available new through gm or new through the aftermarket.

melling mc136 for pump and cloyes 2557 for crank gear.

balls, i need the bolts that bolt the pickup to the pump, the part numbers show no existance on vpinc. does anyone have bolt spec/measurements so i can just order generic bolts?

pretty sure if you just dig through ur engine bolt collection you'll find some that work.

its the windage tray stud thats the one people find most difficult to procure. most just stack up a bunch of washers (imo the absolute most retarded thing you can do) to make it work.

some of the bolts/nuts are still available through gm, some of the ones that are not are available through VPI and yet some arent available at all. at one time i purchased two of everything i could actually get but this was a few years back.

yea mantapart very seldom had parts they actually made. most of their stuff was rocket parts or things they found and put together. much like most of us do anyway.

What bolts did you need for the swap... I just modified my block and have everything but I can get some pictures if need.

Who all pressed/tapped on the new gear on the crank by themselves? I'm currently standing here looking at my crank with the old gear on the bench beside me, wondering if heat and a mallet are really the best way to do this :S

I cheated. I was rebuilding a ld9 for my bosses son and had to have a gear pressed on for the bs. I took both cranks with me and had them both pressed on. Cost me $20 for both.

i have hit the oil gear to pieces with a punch before. broke apart in seconds. or you can sit the crank on a block of dry ice and heat the gear up, falls right off.

as for putting the new on, ive only even had it professionally pressed on but im pretty sure tim norton (transporter) heated his gear up and put it on pretty easily...

He cooled the crank and heated the pulley. They also made a tool to press the gear on evenly with like 3 or 4 bolts.

I cranked my oven to the highest setting, put the gear in for a few mins, and lightly tapped it into place with a small hammer. Done.

All pre '95 Quad4's shared the same oiling system. ('95 had the same crappy style as the 2.4LD9)

the SOHC had the exact same as the DOHC. the SOHC has everything the DOHC has except a different top end, basically.

It's nice to be injected but I love being blown.

Any chance of updating your photobucket account? The pictures in this sticky are offline.. I dirt track race a 2.4 and will be performing the 2.3 oil pump mod in the off season.. I'd like to have these pictures to work with the engine builder to ensure we do it correctly.. Thanks, Ryan

there is not 'updating photobucket' you have to pay them to host images and post those images on other sites now.

I miss my Cavalier, even if it made 100 hp on a cold day and had more suspension then it deserved.

Any chance someone has the full list of pictures available somewhere? Following the photobucket links I can only find about 1/4 of the pictures necessary in this thread. The others are in accounts that are private... Ryan
