We work on these saturns all the time at work and I haven't noticed a issue with slides on the cars that we service. If anybody ever heard of Duke Tomato, well his whole family i swear drives saturns. Anyways we use synthetic brake lube on everything here which helps allot on all brake systems. I was thinking of buying new calipers and rotors and taking apart the calipers and using synthetic brake lube . Does anybody have this setup on there car current tly? If so please post close up picks of install. This deffinetly looks like alot better alternative to the neon swap if your just looking for rear disk brakes and don't want to or need to step up to the big brakes. Personally i don't have enough power to need big brakes , but i would love to get rid of my stupid drum brakes in favor of disk.
I'm very interested, but not sure if I'll find time to hunt down all the parts.

Okay so lemme get this straight.
Take off the drum, shoes, hardware, cylinder, and backing plate on our car. Bolt on the saturn backing plate/caliper bracket ontop of our factory hub. put on the rotors, pads and calipers,. connect the parking brake cable, bleed, and good to go?
How does that work with the wheel bearing? or is it a bracket and hub swap type of thing?
If somebody has this set up I'd really like to see pics.
You know what I completely forgot, there is one bracket that you will need to make.
You see the two ears off the hub on the s series. We don't have that obviously.
BUT!!!!!
There is a simple solution to this,
I'll look deeper into doing these things up if people are interested in this brake option.
Want hub spacers? Shoot me a PM.
If it needs a bracket and odd ball rotors I dont see it being as good as the neon setup. I mean the neon rears use bigger thicker disks too.

I am interested if the price is right. I thought it sounded to good to be true.
Once a rotor is figured out I see it being a great option. You wouldn't need to know a machine shop to get the neon setup machined.
Rotors shouldn't be too hard to figure out though, I'll go looking into the options.

The fiero ones were the best I could find.

Im going to shoot off emails to a few brake companies and see what they have to offer.

I asked a few places already if they could do look ups by bolt pattern and size with no luck.

I already checked wilwood, they dont make a 1 piece that small and they dont make an outer section of a 2 piece that small. You could try raebestos, they are the official brake of NASCAR.

Sp performance (my front rotors), dba, ate, powerstop, and performance friction are a few more companies worth mentioning.
if a braket needs to be made for the caliper why not make the braket for caliper with more pad options? if its not mostly bolt on the whole idea seams like alot more work than the neon with no real benifit
I'm open to suggestions. Saturn brake parts are just very easy to find and typically cheaper then most from what I've found.
Even though I wont have a need to run any of them but I'll be more then happy to help make them viable, or any alternatives that may come up.

Id just be happy to have someone that can machine the neon setup for us....and maybe make something a bit better to space then washers.
Yeah I mean if we're going to be having to make a backing plate you might as well make it so that it takes lug mounted wilwood calipers. That way there would be one that anyone could use and would just need different spacer and then people could choose from a multitude of different size calipers and also different size disks in order to meet their needs.

Those brackets remind me of the stuff that scarebird makes for converting drum to disk on the classics. A friend put them on his 64 galaxy and they work great. I wanna say he has like Mustang rotors with s-10 calipers and Cadillac hoses. Something like that, so it is possible to pretty much make brackets for front and back to use a large variety of caliper and rotor set up to please everyone. Damn I wish I had a cnc. Lol
Yup I could pretty much put this with any caliper setup, just need the input from all of you guys.

Some say Dodge Spirit's rear rotors does the trick by sheer measurement, unfortunately nobody has tried it.

Some very quick prototype bracket.
They arent bolted together just have the capscrews in it for quick pics.
But that would basically be the bracket we would need, and this bracket could be made for just about any caliper there is.

any caliper huh
