Why would i want it to be a sleeper, I dont plan to race anyone on the street anyway- its not worth the chances of someone else getting hurt. (no, this isnt directed at only you, just too much work to quote a lot of people)

i wasnt referring for the practicality of racing people, but even at shows... people stroll up to a stock looking cav and BAM! their grandma slaps them in the face and says "V8 BIT#H!!"

agreed, also i'm thinking more in lines of test and tune nights, make a couple bets and walk away with a little more modding money..

Dont need cutouts, i dont think- its 3" front to back and shoould flow plenty for what i do with the car. It wont see the drag strip often so i wont be setting it up for that.

Hmmm, if you can promise me i will see an old lady do that i may think about it, i just about fell out of my chair just reading that, let alone see it actually happen.

Re: Northstar V8 cavalier

NVG transmission is an internal-slave HM-282 Getrag... official name is the NVG T-550.

Came on the Quad 4 H.O engine in the Beretta GTZ, Grand am H.O, the Achieva SCX and in some Montana minivans I believe. Only 2 model years... 1993 and 1994. That's it.

There is also a European Spec NVG T-550 with a V6 bellhousing.... there were NEW versions of these on ebay going for around $600 I think. Amazing deal... different gearing too.

Alternatively you can get a HM 282 Transmission and slap a NVG bellhousing on it... just different gearing from the high-revving Quad 4 H.O NVG transmission.

Further, if you can get your hands on an original Torsen LSD - equipped NVG I will hunt you down and eat your family. I have been searching for one for 3 years and have come close but have not been able to get my hands on one.

I have a NVG T-550 from a 1994 Grand AM H.O in my car. the short 5th gear sucks.

To the OP... good to see it running. More vids!

Mine is off a 2nd gen z with a v6 (i think it was a 93, may have been a 94) From what i have read it is the same as an hm-282 but internal slave.
I'm not sure what you mean as far as "so i hoping there isint any major differances as far as fit up and mounting go" since after you cut almost the entire front end of the car apart fitting and mounting has andless options on the way back together. Alternatively if you are talking about just the trans there are modifications to do- check on fiero sites for more info on that since i'm not wise enough to have taken many progress pics.

I personally like the body kit. It breaks stereotypes having both, and its good for the shock value. If it is taken to the strip, nobody is gonna take a car with a body kit seriously... until it whoops their a$$.

Lol, i talked to you at ITB, guess i could have said something about it then but was just too disappointed it wasnt there with me.

More info etc. should be soon. I have been driving it around quite a bit (and scaring people pretty good with the exhaust) Its now running well enough to drive but not ideal as it still needs higher rpm portions tuned quite a bit- leans out badly under even a little bit of throttle.
