I gave it a try tonight (Wed 5/18/05) the best i could do 15.057 @ 90.37, with a best 60' - 2.026, with a DA of 2000 ft. I ran my 15.01 with a DA of 400.

Im gettin close, Ill keep yall posted

May I ask how in the hell are you pulling 60 Ft times like that? I run a 14.5 Pretty damn consistently and My fastest 60 ft is... well it's in my sig I can't see that right now... lol

But seriously? is it that the Eco makes torque at a higher band then my car or limited sliip or what?

I'm not going to let all my secrets out, I thought no one would catch that.

All ill say for now is that my tire pressure is LOWer than normal and I'm launching at a HIGHer than normal rpm.

I'm pretty good about letting out info, but i think I'm on to something. I don't know what city or state your from, but I am planing on making it to the GBSCB in July. I know its a month away but I may have a few more tricks up my slieve .

I do alot of "test and tune" secessions, if you go there to experiment you will find alot about the car, if you go and make no changes their ain't no use going.

I have a 14 sec ecotec, just waiting for a day that the humidity is less than 70%, its rained every race weekend for almost a month now.

I don't know why but i never get emails when replies are made to threads i post on... even when i check the box...

I ran 18psi in my front tires for traction and my fastest 60' time was 2.126. now I have power at a completely different band then you, but I know my 60' times are really good on street tires...

think I should run lower?

Lowest i've ever run was 15... but it hurt my top end when i had my old 3.1 auto trans... so i never tried it again...

I launched my fastest run at 3000, i probably should launch around 3500 now with the aluminum flywheel... 3500 is PURE torque on my car... no hp...

actually higher octane will help performance more than you think, our cars have knock sensors, and PCM controoled ignition, it will advance timing as much as it can before knocking. nuff said

Definalty, everyone that has access to anything with scandata (not the POS auto zone code readers) should see what their timing is with 87 and then fill up with 93, it's a HUGE difference at WOT.

also to note...

Don't go by a G-Tech.

nothing wrong with a g-tech... as it stands the information that you get out of the car will only be as accurate as you put in the car. its a decent tool to get an idea where you stand. these types of tools have been used in cars, race cars at that, for years with accuracy, but the info and data those teams enter is also accurate. for example, when it asks for weight, dont put in 2600lbs... get your car weighed with you in it.

also when you mount it and use it, make sure its secure and no bouncing around and on a decently flat smooth pavement.

like most other things, what you get out of something is determined by what you put into it

but then again justin cox ran 15.9 in a 3 speed auto with basic boltons, a body kit, and molded spoiler on his trunk....

considering thats a 2 second or more drop in what the avg 3 speed does stock, i would consider that well.

its seeming like the setup of the car can make or break the run. alot of people are going to tracks with 17;s and 18;s (wheels and tires) instead of something like 15;s.

A good indicator is when you start losing top end speed, so your right on track. Im currently at 11 psi and with only 1 run at 10 psi I need to do more testing. Another thing is along with lower tire pressure you can launch at higher RPM. Im currently at 3700, I can tell when Im a few hundred higher and a few hundred lower when I let out the clutch, just by looking at the tack. One of the next big purchase will be some kind of starting line rev limiter, so I can have even more consistant launches. 1.99 here we come

Thanks for the good question,

Where are you?

If you came to Raceway park they have a scale when you get off your run you can weigh yourself. with around 9/16 tank of gas left (just above 1/2) I weighed 2980 lbs.

I do run out at raceway park. Next time I'm there I'd love to find out how much my car actually weighs! Do you know how much it is gonna cost me tho?

And you are talking about Pittsburg Raceway Park... Right? In new alexandria...

I would to like to think I will run high 14's at the bash, but the bash is not ideal conditions to make my best run. Its going to be hottt. Im at a 15.40ish now with a few org companies working on reaching that 14.99 .

I would love to find out what my car weighs, I could figure out how much weight reduction I actually did.

I am working on a tuning software solution also, but I am getting nowhere. It will take time.

anyone know what a good comparison, stock car, would be to go against that is running mid-high 14's that i could try before i hit the track again. i have to wait till the 29th till the track is open again for street drags by the 29th ill have my 3000 stall converter in and header exhaust done so i should be close

thanks

I know you have alot of things done to your car Roy, but good luck getting an AUTOMATIC Ecotec into the 14's. I raced a friend who's car is an auto and I walked him pretty bad.

i know, thats just my goal, and i dont feel its unreasonable even if its a 14.999 thats good with me. i wont be surprised though if i dont get any better then a 15.2 which still wont be all bad i guess we shall soon find out though

fisrt 1/4 mile ever, I got that in the compact semi finale : 2.217 0-60 ft, 15.132@87.48, it's my best time of the day, I got it at 19:00 probably cause my CAI was getting less heat from the track. And since it's a manual, I will probably do better one day

great time da ghost. you're from quebec right ? where the hell is st-georges, and are you close to napierville ?

anyway, I'd love to hit those times once I'm modded and have practiced my launch.

lets say 45 min from Québec... it's about 305.1 km from napierville.. And if I can get the cash to put some decent tires under my car, I'll be fine, for this one I had the stock tires, that was almost done when I started the day. Ecotecs can hit in the 14s, I don't have a lot of thing on it (CAI, header, hi flow cat, 2.25" exhaust)

At a PROPER track it will take a lot to get an eco into the 14's.
