well...you guys do know his MPH will drop once he gets traction right? I could see him running 12.9, but not more then 110mph...which is no joke...so still, AWESOME numbers

SunCavi_L61T3/T04E wrote:John what are Karos mph on his 12.0 runs, with ULTIMATE TRACTION???
On a slick.
On a street tires like g force or nitos, I am saying about 12.6-12.8.
Read what I posted don't be so fast to say I am wrong.

Jeremy BTW, DJ from me = more respect.
The damn car doesn't even get driven to the track, but trailored, and then gets driven on the track for a few passes, tired ass motor.
Why?? Darrens car is full drag car on a slick and let me not go into the details, because you obviouslly know the car or the guy so you know what I a talking about, but you should have seen DJ's car, just like any of ours, with not aligning body panels.
I mean bad. lol

Anyways, what are Darrens 60 foot times and the MPH????
Because like I said if they raced from a roll, it would be even.
If anybody comes here in Tampa Bay area, all we do is race from a roll.
You can say there is no skill or whatever, or what kinda racing is that?, but it just simply shows you whose car has more HP, or who has HP to weight ratio is his bias.

Crap, even AWD cars run from a roll here.

Ok, DJ your times are great!!!!!!!!! I glad to see it.

Suncavi- All I'm saying is he willnot be in the 11's with that MPH. As state when he gets traction he will lose MPH. Karo ran 111 mph on slicks. I'm sure on street tires his MPH would be way up there!!!! Look at what your saying, compare, properly.

Hehe im determined to break into the 12's even if it means i have to raise boost.......

still havent had a chance to take it to the dyno, but im going soon.

all the ecotec people gotta start represnting... when they ask "which motor is better" we need to SHOW them the ecotec is, the 2.4 was nice and all, but i feel the ecotec has much more potential! We need To Have a ecotec vs 2.4 on that top 5 list... see the top5 out of 2.4 vs ecotec and state which motor next to the times.

im gonna try to push 18 psi to see how that goes / how long it holds up for.. on the 2.4 i went to 19 some times 22 psi and it help up pretty good, cept the headgasket gave out on me after about 2 months.

ok so lets see, if it wasnt obvious enough that i SWAPPED OVER to an 2.2L ecotec FROM a 2.4L that i like the ecotec better.... and i just didnt Come here, ive been here...

you just lost my respect for being such a dickhead.... i didnt say MY motor was better than your motor, its more of a "if you motor is better... PROVE IT" thing. there are alot of debates as to which is the 'better' motor. This would end that debate.... And you can not say the 2.2 has more potential, Hell i dont see the 2.4 being made anymore, does gm know something we dont know?... but from what i have seen and read on this site the 2.4L is currently the dominating engine, the ecotec people just havent pushed them to the limits like the 2.4L guys.

What makes a motor better anyways?
reliablily?
Power capability?
More Power Less modifications?

2.2 seems reliable... 2.4 was reliable as well

2.2 seems like it can take a beating on stock parts i even have a GM proven hand book to follow... 2.4 did to a point lets see if the 2.2 holds up

the 2.4 came with more power from factory, but i see this motor making more power with less modifications, and the modifications i do make a huge impact on performance.

More Pluses...
-This motor is lighter, before the swap my car wighed:
2600 With Me (145) in the car and 1/4 tank of gas Stripped Gutted
after swap:
2400 with me in it (stilll 145) full tank of gas and my tool box in it.

-Engines are cheaper, i can get a new motor for $300 TODAY if mine blows

-aftermarket parts are cheaper
-more after market parts available

-eats up less gas than the 2.4

-its meaner looking than the 2.4 (but this is just a personal opinion)

-its EASIER to work on

so dont give me that crap of respect John i dont know you, and from that comment i dont really want to know you, im not here to impress YOU, im here to motivate some people.
The people that want to go turbo, but are afriad that their motors will blow up from 5 psi cause th 2.2 is such a weak motor compared to the almighty 2.4L.

That is just trying to start something. I do not car what you had before it or not. It should not be about what motor did it, but that a J did it. You made it into a which motor is better. Just let us know when you blow it up,m because it is coming with all the oil your buring in that motor at the FL meet.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!!!! Damn those are some fighting words about the motor eating up some oil John.
I am telling you don't go there!!! lol

See 1st of all YOU BOTH should STOP FIGHTING like 2 little girls.

2nd John, now the I HAVE AN ECO, I know what DJ is talking about I KNOW IT SO BAD,and you can't see this because you don't have THIS motor.
Every time WE (with Ecos), try to progress some other LD9 gets showed into our face, to bring our faith and hope down and to show us that there STILL IS and LD9 that IS faster than your little ECO.

I have talked to DJ and he sees it from the same perspective, and even tho it is NOT you that makes this comment and you have always been cool with me and stuff and with a lot of people you shouldn't have even taken it to heart.
I mean seriously, you are cool and don't do talking so don't think this was intended to YOU because it wasn't just to other """""""""""""""""FAST"""""""""""""""""""
LD9's that are UNBEATABLE!!

Just my 2 cents.

P.S.Wait till we start snaching up on the LSD's and slicks. lol

lol this is great its nice to see that people on the org dont join in on the threads unless there is debating going on

John you werent even at the show but ill argue just for the hell of it......

anyways the oil burning was coming from my turbo.. i didnt have a oil pressure reducer at the time, i have one now, and no more smoking, thank god too cause that was getting annoying. And whats wrong with "showing" anymore motor is faster than another? Dont want to truth to be revealed? Yes its a J-body but there are other cars that have this exact same motor, i have a neighbor with a redline he wants to turbo (yes that means taking out the weak supercharger) his car and push 25 psi.. (2.0 ecotec, just incase you didnt know). you know what, i think he can pull it off......

Skilz.. i too five props to fast any motor, even if its not a J-body, anything that is fast gets my respect.. there are so many people that THINK they are fast, but arnt..

oh and john wishing someone would blow their motor is not cool, it just shows that you are jealous....

This thread really turned into a big pile of shat. Sorry to see it turned into another Eco vs Twin cam thread. This is really getting old. They're both great motors, and I would never swap one for the other (not meant as an insult to DJ, or Suncavi). They both have strong points and weak points. For me, the LD9 is better because I'm such a cheap bastard and I love the idea of getting junkyard parts off the old 2.3's to make my car faster. That, and I'm a complete juice junkie, which the LD9 seems to love as well. But then you have my buddy Phil, who just wanted boost (and all you other boosted eco's) and the eco seems perfectly suited for it. I give it about a year or so untill the lists match up better, and when it does, I'll still have my LD9 on that list running 12's on the bottle with stock internals, and DJ will probably be on the list in the 12's on boost on stock internals. It's all good (but mine is cheaper, lol) <"cheap" shot at end, gotta love it.......

Yes I was not at the show but I heard, and I do know a little bit about motors, even the Ecotec, and it should not smoke like it was described. If you have fixed it great. Oh I never wished a blown motor either.

"And whats wrong with "showing" anymore motor is faster than another? Dont want to truth to be revealed"

that was not what you were doing, you said better, not faster. You made this post into Ecotec verses 2.4 and it should not have been.

To end this good luck with your car, and the times are great regardless of what motor you have.

i am impressed regardless. So i agree with skilz.

eco vs 2.4. well i have a s/c'd bolt on galore 2.4 that i love. and the other car we have is a 02 ls sport which is almost payed off. SO i will just continue to sit back and watch what these eco guys are doing and go from there..

DJ- not sure if u remember josh's yellow ecotec last year. john H. has had alot to do with that car and that car was unbreakable.
