Anyone can speak about whatever they like, its their right. How can you find humor in "dead baby jokes"? The one person that I was shocked to find in here is definitely Bastard King. You were, to me, a very intelligent person that had great input on just about everything we talked about on here. I looked forward to reading your replies in through the different topics etc...After reading this thread, I'm not sure what to think anymore. For someone to find humor in a subject so vile is beyond me. I'm sure that my opinion of you matters none, but I'm sorry, I was just appalled at seeing you in here, the others I can understand.

Finding humor in something so "vile" does niot mean someone's not intellegent, just a bit sick and twisted (both good qualities in a person if you ask me).

I wasn't questioning his intellect, I should've been more elaborate. I was questioning the view that I had of him, my admiration of his mentality.

You're right, who's to say what's funny and what's not but the individual that's humored...or not. This is simply my opinion of it, and the view that I had of a few folks here has been tainted now. I guess since I recently had a child, this kind of thing touches close to home. I'm sure there is a subject that creates unrest within you that some feel it okay to joke about?

It's humor in poor taste, and it's not funny.

Black humor is one thing, these are quite another.

One denoted the congnative reasoning ability of the brain to process information, and the other refers to a relative psycological mindset in reference to a societal norm. It's like comparing a computer processor to Microsoft Windows or Mandrake Linux.

In other words, I can't see how laughing at a dead baby joke can make you think of someone as less intelligent. Base, tactless, and an utter prick, yes (and i would not disagree if you called me any of those). But certainly not unintelligent .

To me, though, nothing is sacred because nothing is sacred to everyone. Sure, there are things that i think would be "hitting below the belt" if people joked about them. But i don't tell people they can't joke about it--i just chose not to deal with them.

I respect their right to freedom of expression, opinion, and speech by letting them joke about it, and they are thus forced to respect my freedom of opinion to think that they should be the poster-child for legalized abortions. Not that i'd do anything, but i have the right to that opinion.

But then again, i believe the beginning of freedom is tolerance of others, not oppression of thought.

i find tons of humor in it...because it's not reality. if someone started cracking jokes on the foetus that fell out of my nether regions of its own volition a few years ago, that's one thing. joking about a fictitious critter that happens to be human? sure, i'm all for it. it's fiction...not reality. maybe i find the humor in it to laugh at my past - but at least i can laugh, instead of becoming a useless blob of emotions.

I don't find humor in sick, vile things. Apparently you do, which doesn't make you any less or more of a person than I am, but my opinion of it still remains. Its down right disgusting in my eyes and to find humor in it does take a different mental state all together. I'm sorry to hear that you lost a child, I can understand your pain because I've been through it twice. But laughing about something like this eases your pain??

Would that help? I mean hell, South Park has done well for 10 years. Their brand of humor includes killing children, sexual harassment and all flavors of religious, racial, ethnic and social intolerance and that's EXACTLY what makes it so successful.

The recent flap over the Scientology episode and Isaac Hayes quitting was the biggest boost in their ratings since the South Park movie came out. Score one for black humor and intolerance. No, scratch that...score TWO (bonus point for making fun of Scientology!)

Notice that Trey and Matt weren't on late night talk shows talking about South Park 10 years ago. Now, Isaac quits because he got a little sandy and they're on Letterman 2 days later. Nice. FInally, we have something to thank Scientology for because they're indirectly responsible for two of the best South Park episodes EVER.

Fighting over something like this is RIDICULOUS. Those fighting against it are no better than Michael Newdow. If you don't recognize the name, he's the waste of skin that's trying to make sure NOBODY can say the pledge of allegiance, and that "In God We Trust" gets taken off American money. Loser with nothing better to do than try to impose his will on everyone else. He's a one person majority because he gets the camera time. It doesn't work that way here though. Posting more or in big bold type or threatening people doesn't make you a majority. It makes you an idiot that can't STFU. Making threats and playing the hard role of a stalker makes you look like a bigger fool than someone who would just argue about it.

In the end, this thread IS NOT getting locked because of the whining of a few people that don't have the intestinal fortitude to handle a little black humor.
