Monday, April 03, 2006 5:03 PM
a girl i know just got rid of her early 90's civic for a 98 Z24 5-speed. she says its so fast and that it can beat my mustang easy. what does a stock Z24 5-speed run in the 1/4? my v6 mustang is running mid 16's

All 1998 5-speed Z24's run 16.894736175637586

Not a milisecond more, not a milisecond less.

Everyone knows this.

there should be an average 1/4 time for a stock Z24 5-speed, no need to get like that right away...just cuz you guys are missing two cylinders

High 15's to low 16's. That's it.

I was being COMPLETELY sarcastic.

I was trying to get the point across that each car is different and there is no answer for your question.

I think I hear Sears calling...they want thier Craftsman back.

ok i'll make these statements with a big ass TYPICALLY infront of them...

TYPICALLY--stock for stock, a manual z24 beats an auto (95 body style) mustang V6.
TYPICALLY--stock for stock, an auto z24 is a real close race with an auto (95 body style) mustang V6

GO PATS!!!

I hope you get your cocky, Mustang-owning rear end handed to you. IMO, you're the one missing two cylinders...

Too bad that's not your car, and that guy has so much money and work into his car that it's laughable.

Just save yourself some time and go away, before you come off as an even bigger tool. Wanna know if her car is faster than yours?

1) Get in said cars
2) Go to a track
3) Race
4) Tell someone who cares

thanks for the info, just wanted to know how quick a Z24 actually is, my brother's 2.2 is quite slow.

no hard feelings, to each his own. you guys are into front wheel drive economy cars, im not.

True enough, but being front wheel drive economy cars doesn't necesarily make them slow. As you said, you run mid 16's. 5 speed Z24's will run anywhere from 15.4-16.0 with a decent driver.

Also interesting to note:

A 1998 Z24 started a $16K, and went up depending on options.
A 1998 V6 Mustang started at $16K, and went up with options.

Interesting how our economy cars cost the same as your car?

not that i would ever own a FORD or even get a lower option then what is available (ie, getting a 6 cyl when an 8 is available), but come one guys, he was just asking a question. are you all telling me that you knew everything about cars and had no bias prior to getting into them. everyone learns something even if we think it is common sense. that would be like someone telling all of us that we are retarded for building up a 4 cyl. when we could build up a v8 which has more potential. its just preference and we all talk our crap. like we all talk crap about honda's even though there are some out there that are bad ass. lay off just a little guys and try to help out. to each his own.

economical cars have more potential because Gas Prices aren't 25/c a litre anymore... more money would be saved with 4cyls, unless you drive like a retard.

Hey, I'm running a Zex dry nitrous kit too! But I think I'm 5 seconds slower than that all out race car of a fox bodied mustang.(79-93)

^^^that's a WET kit.

No turbo, no supercharger, sure. But, are you trying to tell me that that N2O is not considered a power-adder? Now, find me one that did it NA, then I'll be impressed.

The reason I was ragging on this guy was because he metioned us 'missing two cylinders'.
And the reason we build 4bangers is because it's cheaper than swapping in a V8...and the weight distribution with the larger engine would blow lol, talk about understeer..
