First I find a practically new Magnaflow dual exit muffler on awrecked eclipse in the junkyard for 8 bucks. Yes u herd me right. Then 1 of our techs quit and leaves behind a bunch spare parts including a whole bin of 2200 parts. Am I lucky or what. Im goin 2 have an exhaust shop do the muffler and replace the pipe from the cat back with 2 1/2. for more power. Then Ill send the free cylinder head out to the machine shop. What do u guys recomend I have done 2 the head for maximum power on pump gas. I plan on upgrading the cam 2.

Don't let the punks get to you. If they can't say anything helpful its because they probably
have VERY LITTLE IF ANY MECHANICAL SKILLS . Talking crap is just their way of hiding that
fact. They figure the more crap they say the less likley anyone will know how dumb they are.
I hate you. Not literally, but you lucky biotch.
the only reason youd need higher octane is higer than stock compression or some sort of FI like turbo or charger

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
Alright so had the parts department check the numbers on the head. Their computer says it fits cavs 99 to2002 and fires 2000 to 2002. Anybody know what gm changed about the head or is this just some corporate numbers bs. Nobody at work knows any real details on the 4 code motors (2200 for those that dont know). We dont get to many in with real probs. I want 2 know if it will bolt on. If not Ill get a short block from the junkyard and do a whole engine buildup. Id rather not do 2 finances but will if I have 2. I was already planning on having it p and pd. I was thinkin on gettin the manta part intake manifold and throttlebody and having the manifold and head port matched.

won't fit, different coolant passages i believe.
He has a 98. I think it should fit.

better a delay than a disaster.
I think it will fit. I just checked manta parts web site and it says their head fits 98 and up 2200. So Im goin to asume its the same. Ill go to junkyard sunday and have them check their cross reference guide to check for sure. But what annoys me is you think workin at the dealership Id have access to this sort of info but we dont have any way of checkin this out. But Ill know for sure sunday. IM goin to put 1.6 roller rockers and a bigger cam in. Along with bigger valves and better springs. If I do something I do it right the first time so there isnt a second. My goal is n/a streetable horsepower on premium. This is my daily driver after all. Im just tired of the other techs makin fun of my fire. Its time for the fire to burn them back. That is if I can get any of them to race me at the track when Im done. I know Icant beat most of their hot rods but Ill give them a run for their money. Plus Ill toast the ones that drive their hondas. And yes this will be done at the track not on the street.

As far as the cam and rockers go, be careful of what combo you run. The stock valve train is only good for .480" lift. It may sound like you're downgrading going to 1.5 rockers, but depending on what cam you run, you could end up with more lift and stay with in the lift range of the stock dimensions of the valve train, depending on the cam. Just be sure to use new springs.
You can get more lift by using the '94-'97 valves and maching the spring pockets for taller springs. Myself, OHV notec and a few others are working on spring fitment
here.. Were still trying work the bugs out, but we should have something good here soon.
The P&P and multi angle valve job would work great. Get the +1mm valves from Karo at
Car Customs. Call
Crane Cams for a regrind, you'll need a usable cam core to send them. If you use the aftermarket
rocker arms, you can increase the compresion ratio by surfacing the head and using the
Cometic Multi-Layer Steel Head Gasket, get one of the .027"-.036" thick gaskets. Go to a good performance machine shop and tell them your using the adjustable rockers, so the "book limit" doesn't necessasarily apply here, but the cylinder head deck thickness does. The shop should also be able to figure out what the final CR will be and what octane rating would be good for that motor.
Do a search for more information about the 2.2L/2200s, myself, OHV notec, slowolej, Scarab and others have many good threads out there with excellent information.
A header, high flow CAT, full 2 1/4" exhaust and the 2.3L 56mm TB and an intake would be an excelent addition to all the work done above.

I was actually goin to use 1.6 roller rockers. And the manta part cam and intake manifold and throttlebody. Is this any better than the 2.3HO swap? If its not much better I can use my employee discount and get a new 2.3HO intake and throttlebody. Anybody use their parts before? Id like to know how well they work. And believe me I wasnt leavin any part of the valvetrain stock. As for the exhaust my muffler has 2 1/2 inch inlet so I was goin with a 2 1/2 inch catback. Im goin all out with this. Iwant to hit 200hp But it has to stay streetable. This is my daily driver. I may run a 25horse shot of nitrous but thats a big if. Id prefer not to but if it will reach my goal I might try it as a last resort.
