easiest stuff to start out wiht would be:
intake
header
exhaust
....

My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again

pacesetter ceramic coated header is good. then there is engine mounts, pulley set, tranny mounts if you have a 5 speed

x2

Biggest hurdle you are going to have is fuel delivery. Since the injectors are side-feed, you are limited to stock injectors.

If you add anything that will require more fuel (for example, forced induction) you are either going to have to swap engines to the 98+ 2200 or custom fab a top feed conversion.

stay away from JBP with a 2.2L OHV
If you want to have some 'in-engine' experience, search for MadJack's rocker thread

frew, The JBP cams are over priced regrinds. Crane, Comp, Isky, etc can do just as good or better regrind for much less. Discuss with you favorite cam manufacturer about what you plan to do with the car and have them do a regrind for you on a stock cam you provide. These motors respond well to profiles designed for Small Block Chevys.

The JBP springs are too high of a rate, which breaks other parts, i.e. lifters and/or pushrods.

Nick, as for other mods to do, the header should be next. After that, look into making the head flow better, which is the biggest restriction on these motors. Roller rocker arms will help, here's a link to the 2.2L/2200 Rocker arm thread.

Also, look into the Patriot Performance 2.2L Cylinder Head, it's a really nice piece. I know Ryne at Team Vision Racing can get them for you, as well as a few other retail sites mention on JBO. You'll be stuck with stock lift values with the assembled head, which will be about .480" at the stock rev limit of 6000 rpm (you could go higher, but I don't reccomend it, on stock springs).
